-- Trance producers that does not suck nowadays
Pages (3): « 1 [2] 3 »
Pretty much agree with what Dima is saying.
Too much generic trance. Don't get me wrong. Some of them are awesome technically, but they are so bland melody or structure wise that it's just meh.
For example, take Giuseppe Ottraviani - Linking People. It's a decent tune on its own right, but it's just one of those tunes that every trance producer seems bent on copying.
Compare that with Stoneface & Terminal - Sidewinder (Arc in the Sky remix). You'd remember this tune because it just don't sound like the rest of the pack. (And IMO tune of the year trance wise) Is it absolutely original? No, because it's one of those anthem trance copier. But at least it doesn't sound like everything else out there.

| Originally posted by Cosmic Fur I define creativity as simply something that sticks out. For example, I can hum out a few Trance tunes from the 2000-era without barely any effort, yet ask me to hum out anything from the Schulz set from last weekend, and the only one I'd be able to do is Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms, and even that is only because of the lyrics (which ironically, aren't even original). His set was phenomenal, don't get me wrong, but the tunes themselves are not memorable. |

fkn oath Stoneface & Terminal rock, love their track INCOGNITION!
ALSO ADD Fred Baker & Mark Norman & JOOP to the list!

It's different for me...I find all my old trance tunes boring now....and I love the newer stuff...especially the fluff. I can tell em all apart, and for some reason, alot of them sound as good as candy tastes
My current fluffy favs that make my ears tingle with magical delight...

It seems to me Sean Tyas, GE, Askew are looking like the big future trance producers these days...although their stuff is o.k., it is NO where near top notch trance...everyone says trance isn't what it used to be blah blah blah and it's sounding the same..thats cause they all keep using the same hypersaws and crap..even the melodies sound staple...just read an article with Robert Gitelman how he was saying about 90% of the trance out there is fluff and crappy and an older AVB video how he said there was a time trance was cool (meaning it ain't anymore)..i wouldn't take it that far though ...but how many big name trance DJs can play a pure trance set and keep it interesting for 2-3 hours? I don't know many..too much progressive, electroish sounding stuff and what some would call trance is in fact pop-synth in all the big name trance DJ sets.
For me, althoug harder, SVD is keeping it interesting for me. I'm also liking some local and intl. DJs and suprised how good minimal, techno and progressive can be. And before the house heads start laughing, most of the good house I hear has trancey elements and structure to it.

I can't believe no one has mentioned andy moor yet. Whether its independently, with Leama or as whiteroom anything this guy touches is gold.
In my opinion the best producer out there right now.

^ i'd have to agree with you on that one, andy moor is top notch and i think he's only gonna get better and better. his work is magik.
edit: common ben, u like him just admit it!
seems to me that this thread has a lot of negative remarks towards djs.
"what about SvD?"
"oh he's into techy trance, he's shit, his work has been off lately blah blah blah"
every dj brings something to the table, if you don't like his style it doesn't mean he's a bad dj. a lot of people don't like tiesto's style, does that make him a bad dj? yohan i honestly dont' know the point of this thread and why you made it. to critisize djs?
