I can't believe they won that.

Thank God they did tho, losing that game would have been bad.

I'm still calming down after yelling at the TV the entire 4th quarter.

I think I don't have any bald spots yet from clutching hair after every missed play

In other news the dancers for the allstar game were introduced..Katherine

I only caught the comeback, but these raps are beginning to scare me a little in their last few. They're eeking out tight games, and not playing the full 48. To me, based on the rolls of previous raptor teams, that can mean the end of a good stretch of play. When a team stops doing what they did to start winning, they're probably developing bad habits. That being said, this team has more depth, and no Vince.

I was kinda hoping they'd lose, it might wake them up a little, and put Boston away early next game.

Oh, and what does everyone think about Jose Calderon playing starting point? I've actually been calling for it since the beginning, to me, he seems more like a pure 1 spot. He changes speed well, moves the ball to shooters, and can finish extremely well with both hands around the basket. Ford can score himself, but he has a tendency to take some bad shots, and one too many bounces of the ball. Both have the potential to be very good at point, I just think Calderon's style fits better with the decidedly International flavour of our team. Thoughts?

Both have their strengths and weaknesses

Ford can create his own shot and is generally a better shooter than Calderon. He does turn over the ball more though.

Calderon is more creative passer and probably the best point guard in the league going to the bucket but his inconsistent shooting means opposing point guard can contain Calderon's game.

Remember, both guys are still learning the game and Calderon IMO is about 2 yrs from being a lead point guard in any team if his shooting improves by another 15% or so

I agree. Maybe not as much as +15% FG percentage tho. I've always said tho, it's easier to teach a jumpshot than change the mentality of a player's approach to the game. I don't think it would be 2 years, if he works hard in the offseason, on of those might do just fine.

Ford does possess those off the bounce skills, for him, I think he need to work on how and where to find shooters on the perimeter, or when to hit people on the run. He can dump the ball to bigs very very well tho, and his flat out speed puts pressure on defenses very quickly.

Posted by slingshot on Jan-25-2007 17:29:

calderon is good, but ford is clearly much more skilled. calderon is also alot more flashy in his play and i think people tend to mistake this for skill therefore deeming him the better pg.

Fuck! They won last night? I didn't want to watch another loss, so I switched to the NHL All-Star crapola. DAMMIT. I mean, good for the Raps

Posted by six04 on Jan-25-2007 20:39:

Calderone is a bit erratic I think. If he was a bit more calm maybe he could reach some consistency. And what is up with that dumb 3-point sign he waves? Reminds me of LJ's L-train sign.

TJ is totally the leader on the floor. He's consistent and is a respected offensive threat. And no L-train bs.

FUCKING AWESOME

killer performance by Raps. Calderon gets better and better, Bosh fucking rocked that game.

LOVE IT

For some reason it's not part of the package from Rogers. (I don't pay the cable bills)

Actually, they were at 500 before going back 1 below losing to Pacers on Sun, now they are back at 500.

didnt catch the raps game, but caught a good part of utah taking on spurs... araujo got a lot of time, about 20 min or so, guarding tim duncan, and, i hate to say it, but he played a SOLID game... never looked out of place, and all his plays were spot on

incredible to see such game from a player that used to be so inept...

seems like all of babcoc's picks are turning into incredible players...

Just because Araujo looked solid one game you are claiming him to be incredible? lol. Bottomline, he was a bust for the Raps - and there were plenty of solid players picked following him in the draft. Babcock really made a mess of this team, and Colangelo cleaned house to build a solid foundation.

As a team, and by that I mean depth, chemistry, entertainment value, etc - this squad has to be regarded as the best so far for the franchise.

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 15:40:

i didn't say HE was incredible, but his picks, ie caldo, CV, etc

ugh

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 15:42:

and no, babcock didn't make a mess of this team but was thrown into a mess...

VC already wanted out when babcock took over, so he did what he had to do, start the rebuilding process...
