All I know is that if I was ever to go to New York, I'd be sure to go stereo NYC before any other club. It would be nice to experience/compare both venues.

Posted by Patius on Oct-11-2006 22:50:

don't no guys, but I also agree that Angel shouldn't name this club, or even use the logo as he is, for his new club. It looks like Angel has the copyright for the name in the States, but if he did it before in Montreal, I'm sure he can do it in NYC but with a different name.

Everyone knows (those know their stuff) that as soon as you see ((())) somewhere, you are talking about Stereo - and Stereo period.

Now, the opening hours of the club is from 11pm to 4am - if you want to recreate the vibe we have at Stereo, shouldn't the club be at least an afterhour club?

Stereo vs. Crobar NYC vs Pacha NYC

Yeeesh, this is going to be a dirty fight for all the glory and prestige of the limelight of the Big Apple.

My money on Pacha

Plus dont they have a clubbed called Stereo already in New York. Stereo NYC?

Posted by chikitamtl on Oct-12-2006 00:58:

...

I think its a cheap move. Angel does'nt have anything to do with stereo for a long time.

When angel was @ stereo he runed it to the ground and 4-5 years ago nobody wanted to go @ stereo because it was a gay club and bla bla bla

its the administration, the promo team and david morales that is in place for the past 3 years that made what stereo it is now a half straight half gay club with killer booking and the best vibe in mtl

angel still live in the past in my opinion you owned stereo 6 years ago get over it now every one that works there does'nt want to have anything to do with him so Stereo NYC please....

Please don't try to convince me that STEREO is booking more names than almost any other club in North America.

STEREO is booking big names in Montreal... but it's still nothing compared to the rest of North America...

STEREO is expanding it's pull in the market which gives them the ability to book multiple dates and GREATLY increases the chance of us seeing even better DJ'S! I'm not saying they aren't bringing in great talent now, they are, I'm just saying that it'll mean even BIGGER names for STEREO in Montreal, Sonic in T.O and STEREO in NYC.

You feel me?

Avalon Boston's bookings are fairly weak. Circus has international Djs twice a month maybe. The only clubs in NY that have serious bookings every weekend are Crobar NYC and Pacha NYC. Cielo and Sullivan Room have occasional international bookings but feature more local talent. Honestly, NYC is suffering right now and I would say Stereo is pulling their weight with respect to the NYC clubs. I haven't been to NYC clubs but this is the respectable opinion of a few people I know living in NY. NYC clubs are getting shut down by 4 am for about anything the cops can think of. The clubs also have undercover police, namely 21 year old girls, asking patrons for drugs, including marijuana, who then get escorted by management to the police officers waiting at the club entrance where a citation is then issued.
Honestly, if you take a look at Florida's event listing, you'll see there are more clubs in Florida than in NYC (http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...12&pagenumber=1) and close to the same number of major bookings as in NYC (http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=236765), even though Florida's population is less than that of the NYC metro area. Because there are so many venues, each venue generally doesn't book big talent every weekend, expect for maybe space miami.
So the conclusion to make from all of this, when you take a look at the two big metro areas known for EDM in the U.S., only Pacha and Crobar really book more big talent than Stereo. I would say that Stereo beats the rest in terms of booking since a) the Florida market is diluted with so many venues and b) Pacha and Crobar take most of the international bookings in NYC, leaving the few remaining clubs (Cielo, Sullivan room) to feature local talent and occassionally a big name.
Angel will have to realize that you can't run a club in NYC like it is run in Montreal. There is intense competition in a declining market. This isn't a venture I would pursue. He will have to cooperate closely with the city, the police, and understand his market well if he is going to see any return on his investment.

1.you didn't read his post properly i think marcus.
2.Why don't you answer if you have ever been to Stereo?
3.Don't argue things you don't know.

I stand by my statement...i might have not ever lived in LA like you, but i have partied in alot of the major cities and the bookings arent there like you imagine.Stereo books better than almost every club in North America...the proof is there.Go look at the websites of the clubs you mentioned.

n00b

p.s.
this "Stereo"Nyc has nothing to do with the Stereo in Montreal.Angel just owns the rights to the name and the logo in the US and is only using it to make a quick buck. How can recreate the stereo vibe when the club closes at 4am?

Montreal and Toronto are better clubbing destinations than you think...unless you like hip hop.Stick to Dave Gatling man.

I've been to STEREO twice now. I love it to death. They are killing Montreal booking wise and, like I said, I LOVE the place. Look at Avalon LA's bookings:

Nic Faniculli, Cedric Gervais

NEXT WEEK

Bad Boy Bill

NEXT WEEK

Infected Mushroom, Victor Dinaire

NEXT WEEK

Erick Morillo and Carl Cox

Does STEREO beat that? lollll

Posted by all-nite-freak on Oct-12-2006 19:36:

ok thats one club for now..
you still have 9 more to find to disprove my theory of top 10.

plus comparirng the 2 is stupid because the la club scene is phony and stereo patrons accept anyone no matter who they are.You gonna tell me its like that in LA?

who did you see at Stereo...you choked Sander and told me last time you still hadn't been...just curious.

ps i dont really think its better, but thats just my tastes.

Sorry I ignored the west coast, probably because I've never been there. Looking at the bookings, I have to give Avalon Los Angeles props. Their bookings are about as solid as anyone else. I'm sure if we searched every city we could find maybe two or three more clubs with international bookings every weekend, but I think that would be about it. I think there is Church in Denver, there is one in Atlanta I can't remember, Blue in Detroit attracts big names sometimes, Nation in DC is pretty solid, rustbelt cities Philly, Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo used to be solid 1997-2002 but are mostly miss now. Cleveland's scene I see is bouncing back a bit- they are able to book some pretty solid djs for what is essentially a bar scene (closes at 3am). http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=370920
Chicago has a few venues- Spybar and Vision are booking solid every weekend. Smartbar and Crobar are off and on.
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=261024
From all of this, it looks like Avalon LA, Nation in DC, one or two venues in Chicago in addition to the Space Miami, Crobar NYC, and Pacha NYC previously mentioned are the only venues that have more solid bookings than Stereo in the U.S. If you want to expand to Canada, Guvernment has it going every weekend. Sonic is still a younger cousin of Stereo.

Yea and before Avalon makes their line up they ask themselves, who does Brendan from Ottawa really like?

Doesn't compare

lol

Avalon LA is anything but "phony..."

2735732 asians doing the washing machine on the dancefloor is not high class in my opinion...

I saw XL before Sander and Armin last month. STEREO is by far the best after in Montreal.

The Anglo is yet again confused.

I love it!

you cant always express your opinions in such a way when they are not sustained with facts. there is no way of having a constructive (that goes somewhere) conversation with no facts.

if the point here is just make "theories" at least publish them, get a job, do something with all that knowledge of yours!

this might help us:

In my previous posts I provided links to the event listings in each major city I spoke of to back up my conclusions. Just orginally didn't do it for Avalon Los Angeles because it didn't come to mind. Then, someone pointed it out.

Be happy that he finally posted something after so long

And true he made a mistake coz he didn't see that boloni was talking about two different Avalons but the quote is still true and applies to 80% of the board members
