Below's my review from rhythmism. If some of it doesn't make sense, it's because I was quoting someone else and I was trying to directly address issues to the promoter, who barosoap and I know, as far as making the party better since this was only their 2nd week @ Duvet. From TA, we saw sot, thero40, knittybone, avikonen.

Tracks I recalled
Ame - Rej
Moby - Go (Trentemoller mix)
Kupon - Zoom In (I think)
Underworld - Two Months Off
Solid Groove - This is Sick
It was a pretty familiar sounding selection of music, but I can't remember everything. That's what happens when you don't tracklist until Monday morning.

We stood at the rope for at least 20 minutes (probably 45 total in line), finally getting in after they left everyone in that was in the line closer to 6th Ave and right as you were talking to Danele, even though we were on Andy's list. It was really pretty ridiculous, because it wasn't that crowded inside even at 1 when we got in. In addition to the line, the bathroom situation was disgusting. Get a mop for the urinal trough, because you could smell the stench of urine outside in the line.

Music was good, though we only caught like 30 minutes of Ali's set. Mixed drinks were expensive for the size and really weak (I've heard people complain about watered down drinks at Crobar, but this took it to a new level), but they did have Newcastle, so I just switched to that.

I think the main thing that would have helped the party is half as many lights. It was like we were in Miami, not New York, and that's not a good thing. The people weren't really that pretty that you'd want to show them off and it was inhibiting the dancing. We've been to ESP's parties @ Cielo and BED and both were more darkly lit, which I think is really needed for dirty house and electro.

All bitching aside, you guys did do a great job with the sound and I'm guessing the booth though I wasn't in it. That's the main reason we all go out, but it's unfortunate when there's the other issues that detract from it, especially the door situation which starts things off on a sour note.

Also, the vibe got so much better at like 2-2:30, after most of the posers who were there "to be seen @ Duvet" left and the people who were there for the music remained.

Glad we got to see you to say happy B-Day, Andy. You looked a little too busy to enjoy it, so I hope you're having another celebration when you don't have to be as responsible.

yea place was definitely miami influenced to the max haha..not too bad though. alot of underaged girls everywhere which isnt neccesarily a bad thing just there clueless on what there doing there, its kinda funny watching em..besides that, the one guy from ku (dunno which one) ripped it pretty nicely. 2 months off was def a highlight for me. i haven't heard that track in a solid 2-3 years. got the ye ol vinyl in dust somehwere. the guy that opened up (half of LES) was a bit rough in the beginnign with flow and mixing but he got better towards the end of his set. ran into eco, avikonen, GHB and his lady friend bar of soap. don't think i saw any other ta's other then those, tyler, dustin & aj.

can't forget the whole new pryda discog (frankfurt, remember, proper education) was played lol

This party definitely needs tweaking if it's going to survive the discerning EDM crowd in NYC, but it DOES has potential. I have been a long time supporter of LES and East Side Productions/Urban Promotions since they were throwing parties in a little closet of a club called Groovejet over 4 years ago.

The best thing about their parties is their focus on bringing different talent to NYC at venues with a great vibe and sound. Of all the venues they've booked... Duvet probably has the worst vibe. This party is only in its second week, so obviously they still need to iron things out, but some issues may be inherent to the venue like the crappy, clueless people who wander there off the street because it looks like a "hip" NYC club.

The venue is quite different from the old Centrofly. Now, it's very pretty in the artificial Miami sense. It's open with lots of glass and clear plastic they light up with bright colors. Unfortunately, the people are artificial too. Aside from the TAs and Rhythmists we knew from other parties, the crowd wasn't into the music at all. I think one major change they need to make is with the door policy. Give priority to people who are actually there for the music. Letting in the B&T crowd may fill up the room with big spenders for a couple hours, but they really kill the vibe and leave by 2am anyway since they can't appreciate anything aside from JP and hip hop. The intimate, fun-loving Centrofly is gone =(

On the plus side, the new sound system ESP brought in is awesome. It's clean, rich, and decently balanced on the main floor. Combined with the talent they bring, this party could still be a strong Friday night contender if they work out the crowd issue.

PS It'd be one thing if the girls there were hot, but I've seen much more beautiful women at BED, Cielo, and even... Crobar.

How did I forget this one? I can't stand it, and now that I've heard it out on a good system, the verdict still remains the same.

Damn, I forgot about that! He dropped Shadows didnt he? He was sweating Prydz new shit. Too many shots... nice meeting GHB and Barosoap... I liked the actual venue, and thought Roberts from KU ripped it. The getting in part sucked, I can see how many people were pissed with the door people... I was comped +3 but somehow only got reduced... which is okay, but its still annoying because I was told I was comped. Anyway it was a good time. Bathroom situation was retarded, and the 'troth' thing was weird (the bars running across, smelled like old piss, and the window to the troth was see through)

I think he played it after that dumbass drunk swatted the beer out of your hand, and you started to block things out.

One of our friends bought advance tix, but they didn't have his name on their confirmation list. He ended up paying cover again, so $40 in total! Yeah, the door people really need to sort it out.

Re: the bathroom. Supposedly, there's another secret bathroom or something that people rarely use. We were advised to look for that one next time lol

Yeah, that asshole.

Especially sucked that it was right after the last call and was a nearly full beer, and the guy didn't even bother to apologize at all, even though it was completely his fault. I just stood there, annoyed, and didn't even bother to pick up the beer because I had to control the urge to break it over his head.

Oh c'mon Tae, she's far better looking than that. As anyone who went to Steve Porter in September can attest, Barosoap's schoolgirl outfits aren't as ugly, either (ew..green)
