personally... i think its hot when it's a colored bra strap showing. i love wearing my purple bra if i'm wearing a tank with really thin straps. if it's white/nude/skin color though it can look kinda ugly or trashy.
"What is it with the visible bra straps these days? There's something in my upbringing, American or Asian, I dunno, that tells me that only sluts let their bra straps show. yeah i never bothered with clear straps...are they even that supportive? and anyhow, you can still see it and it's shiny.
obviously if it's a top and/or dress that is meant to look like you're not wearing a bra, but you need to for some support and/or to fill it out more, then yea, go with the clear straps, or i have even gone as far as to buy those weird gell fake boob looking things that stick to u. it's pretty much the same as wearing a padded push up bra, but it looks more natural.
but i'm a fan of sporting the colored bra straps with white tank tops...especially the black with white top. it's hot.

i can see the argument with your thong showing. when i was younger, i thought it was hot, but now i don't do that. if i get up from my chair, i make sure my thongs don't show.
if someone yelled at me because my bra was showing, i'd tell them that it's really not that serious and if you don't like it, then don't look. it not like i'm TRYING to, what the hell, lol.

I'm offended that they're wearing bras at all. Topless ftw! 
that's funny i never thought that people could be offended by that or think it's trashy.....maybe a gap of culture i dont know but it's so common that to be honest i never paid attention to that ....it happens to me as well and i mean no one ever said something to me or i never heard anyone making a common about this here .....
on the other hand i think to see a bit of thong when a girl is wearing pants is trashy and reveals a lack of elegance ....but that's my opinion
its unprofessional much like having your tag hanging out. 
personally i hate it. it's called buying a strapless bra. i just hate that look i guess. but whatever floats another persons boat i guess.
If someone doesn't like that my straps are showing, they're most welcome to hop on over and lick out my asshole.

when a girl is wearing a tube top, and a normal bra -> showing the bra straps, it looks very VERY ugly. otherwise I see no problem with showing bra straps at all. the transparent ones look so plastic and are way worse than showing normal straps

Offensive? No. Sometimes though, if you have big boobs (speaking from experience) strapless bras don't really work. I don't care WHO makes it, there just isn't enough support. Just match the bra to your outfit, and don't wear tube tops if you don't have a strapless bra, or go braless. It's only trashy if the person wants it to be.
