Luck... no bad luck here, it's your fault... you should have livin on your own by now. Or alternatively, have a lock on you bedroom's door.

lived on my own for over 2 years buddy...finishing off uni from home...we're in the process of moving and they're so caught up in moving and trying to finish the new house that they don't know what the hell is going on right now. text books and notes were in one pile on a desk by themself....textbooks remain.....notes and papers do not.

so actually it's not even the slightest bit my fault, smartass.

God's way of telling you that you don't need them. If your parents didn't trow away your booze... God's way of telling you that's the way to go for your midterm.

What shitty thing has happened to you lately?

Oh, that happened to me too. I fractured my foot really badly two days before Above & Beyond. I was told that I had to use crutches for at least a month, and had to use the PIER (Pressure, Ice, Elevation, Rest) method for about 2 weeks. Instead of listening to the doctor, I took a bus to Toronto, left my crutches at home, and went to the Guv. I was in soooo much pain that night. I remember almost passing out. I danced from 11:30 till 6:30. A couple days later, I limped back to the ER, and the doctor asked me how the hell I managed to make my fracture worse. Even now (over 6 months later), it has not fully healed.

If you still decide to go to Beyer, be REALLY careful, and take a lot of breaks in between dancing.

And yes, it was my fault.

Ugh I know, but A&B are one of my favourites, and I never got to see them before. *sigh*

And they played such an amazing set that night, so I couldn't stop dancing.

That's my advice as well, taking it EZ with a shyteload of breaks.

I wouldn't go at all. Fuck that - parties come and go. Being incapacitated for 6 months after because of a few hours of enjoyment that you can get a few weeks later anyway is not a wise decision imo.

Besides, you can't drive if you make the sprain even worse, Sonja!

Depends on how you walk or how bad the sprain is. If it's REALLY bad then don't go anywhere...a friend of mine has to have surgery to have her knee fixed...shitty. All I'm saying is just to NOT go hardcore and yes parties come and go, there will be others.

I broke my toe and went out dancing that night. Suck it up.

Kidding...about sucking it up. I really did break my toe and then go out dancing.

What's that dance called, where some dude puts one hand behind his neck, and the other hand holds on to his ankle from behind, and swings back and forth?

Yeah... you can do that all night. The spotlight will be on you.

Didn't Fred Flinston invent that dance in the cartoons?

"Luck" as such does not really exist. Skill on the other hand does.

"Chance" is the actual entropy of the universe - the randomness that cannot be planed for (but can be mitigated, somewhat).

My favourite UW professor (and most ppl's favourite too at the University of Waterloo I'd imagine... or at least first years, anyway), Larry Smith, he had a saying, and he was intense about it.

Before test, midterms, exams, what-have-you, he would NEVER IN A MILLION years say "Good luck". He found it offensive (he really did) and ridiculous. Saying "good luck" would somehow imply that the mark you attained was not dependent on your studying efforts, and could not be controlled...

Instead, he would ALWAYS wish us "Much success" on our upcoming test!

I LOVE it. I really think this is what people should be saying -- he's very right. It's a much more appropriate phrase to use in the situation!

Being the genius that I am, I spent the day walking around (paying for traffic tickets) and driving... with my right foot. I basically squealed everytime I had to switch pedals.

Now it looks like I have half a grapefruit for an ankle.

That's so funny, bc that's my opinion often of why the mass population choses to believe in god...

Because when something bad happens in their life, they can think that, well, they really couldn't have helped it because that was god's plan, nothing they could have done to mitigate or change the negative circumstances.

And that's a very comforting thought for the mind.

If one couldn't help the present (shitty) circumstances that one's in (ie. it's god's way, not something one can control), well, that's a very comforting way to look at the situation and life... it's not your fault or something you can change, it's god's way...
