To remove most adverts from web pages simply get:

Adblock (or adblock plus): http://adblock.mozdev.org/

and

Filterset.g : https://addons.mozilla.org/mozilla/1136/

With these two installed most web page advertising is removed, and in addition you can also maintain your own block list for any it misses.
