Here's my vote: Fatboy Slim: Live at Brighton Beach 2002.

250,000 people attended. It was on the national news. The CD release of the mix is available in shops. It was such a big event, Mixmag recently ran a retrospective feature that included it alongside historical clubbing moments like the introduction of E to the UK.

Not a single mix mentioned here is remotely close.

Didn't a couple of people die at the event? Completely unrelated to the event itself, but due to the huge number of people there the law of averages dictated a couple of them were bound to die that day?

Most well-known is undoubtedly Tiesto at the Olympics in '04, but that one's more infamous than famous.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned BT Live @ Two Tribes, Melbourne 2004 03 06 yet.

tbh, as good as that set is. if it didn't have that power failure in it. it wouldn't had gone that noticed.

My two favourites are :

Tiesto @ energy 2000 (This kind of opened up my eyes to "real" trance)

Johan Gielen @ trance energy 2002 - This one is without a doubt my favourite of all time, a perfect mix of songs and styles

Ferry Corsten - Live @ Avalon 10-23-2004 is a pretty popular mix.

Also,

Daft Punk - Live @ Coachella 4-29-06 was/is pretty popular, especially when it was released in a high quality bit-rate.

Along with the Released set of "Alive 1997" by Daft Punk.

i mean, i love chicane and his production (especially far from the maddening crowds album), but this set is just too hyped up without reason

He did play a track that was never released. And it was cool to hear the crowd, adds a bit of energy. Besides that not too different from listening to his albums though. I still wish he produced songs like he did back then...he's working with Tom Jones now

+1 it was my first liveset ever! and the best one to date!

Ferry Corsten Live at Hyperstate 2000 23-09-2000 (Oslo, Norway)
Armin van Buuren & Ferry Corsten Live at Godskitchen 2003-03-16 (Dublin, Ireland)
Ferry Corsten Live at Incasa 2000-09-15 (Leiden, The Netherlands)

These are great Ferry Corsten-sets, and my favourite one is the Hyperstate one in 2000.

There's tons of great sets out there not even mentioned..

I don't know why but I never liked the "classic" Magik 6.
