hey, this thread is about eastern european foods.. get the raviolis outta here

I love perogies with meat.. too bad they're so time consuming to make and it's difficult to find good store bought ones

w/ sour cream

Boiled, then fried.. sour cream galore.
There's a Ukranian bizaar thing in November at a church in Mississauga.. Ukranian dancing, beer.. 4384876 Ukranian women in a huge kitchen making all kinds of good stuff.. including these.

Yummy goodness.. I go every year..and I'm Irish..haha.

The closest thing Czechs have to these are called Knedliky, which is a kind of dumpling. There's different varieties, the most common is in a plain loaf, sliced with the entree to soak up the gravy.

The other kinds are steffed Knedliky, and can be stuffed with either meat;

or fruit

Best food ever, if done right. (Usually the ones you buy here in stores are nasty, but the ones my mom makes are friggin amazing)

the one by Keele/Steeles has some amazing ones, pelmeni AND vareniki

Posted by geroin on Nov-01-2006 03:34:

Yah, pelmeni are boiled, not baked or fried.

The most famous brand in Moscow these days is called Sam Samich - Pelmeshki Bez Speshki

mmmmmmmmmm

this is the one type of food that i always have in my freezer and i mean always. if you show up at my house and i don't have them, i will literally buy you a pelmeni factory!!!

maybe i should have a pelmeni & vodka night just like i sometimes throw mussels & martini evenings by the poolside during the summer!

Depends on my mood. Either with butter and sourcream, OR sometimes with white viniger.

If they are fried, then always with sourcream.

MMmmMM I havn't had them in so long.

My dad eats them with vinegar. Never tried it, but I don't think I'll like it as I don't like the taste of vinegar.

I Don't usually like viniger either... But they taste strangly good with it.

Also, it has to be white viniger, other wise it tastes like ass.

in conclusion...

Pelmeni are the second best food in the world, after sushi of course. And they taste amazing no matter how you make them, or with what you eat them.
