Things people tell me about it:

1. Where does the new song start?
2. How can you listen to this is so repetitive
3. So is boring...

Posted by Trancewave on Oct-27-2001 03:00:

oh yea almost forgot. To continue the story, some of them asked me to make a cd for them later on. So I put in some tunes that I'm sure they would love. This one guy brought it home and his parents thought that he was listening to satan and devil music

Posted by integrity1 on Oct-27-2001 03:14:

whenever someone says something stupid about trance to me(ie: you have to be on drugs to listen to it, its no real music, etc...) i like to just agree with them and put my headphones back on. by the way i dont know about you guys but how can anyone not like doomsnight. if that openning bassline doesnt get you up and moving then maybe you should check your pulse

Posted by plastikE on Oct-27-2001 04:15:

well, I've already told this once on a TA thread, but :

Me: can you play some trance?
Local 'thug' DJ: East coast or west coast trance, because they're different..

*sigh* the rest is up to you to try and figure out

Posted by DJ Fien on Oct-27-2001 05:04:

Heh...I'm a very big progressive, Nubreed, GU fan, but I don't hate trance Sure, its not my favorite, but I still dance to it, listen to it, and love it. Just not my main musical love I'm into polygamy music ways

Posted by Sunlounger on Oct-27-2001 06:44:

1. "What the fuck is this kind of music? gave me a headache!"
2. "so fuckin boring! geez i need some 'words' in it"
3. "this shit (tiesto's walhalla) is soo cheezy!
-----------------------------------------------------------

well fuck you

Where I work at, Some of my co-workers dont usually understand trance and stuff to a point they have the nerve to tell me to change the music and put something else, Its at times like these where I would get really pissed off and tell them off that all the other music they listen to is a piece of shit, Garbage, And that I dont listen Pop, Hiphop or any other style of music, Only Trance, Techno, House, Acid, Triphop.

Posted by Renegade on Oct-27-2001 15:32:

I think it's time for some Mad Magazine style Snappy Answers to Stupid Comments......

1) But all this shit sounds the same, man!

Yeah you're right. Perhaps I should start to appreciate the incredible variety oozing from the rap and thrash metal scenes at the moment.

2) But it's not real music, man!

Yeah. I guess the guy who made Flaming June couldn't be anywhere near as talented as a musical prodigy like Nick Carter.

3) But there's no words, man!

I guess the trance community just lacks the intelligence to appreciate the almost poetic complexity comprised in the lyrical content of that Christina Aguilera Christmas album.

4) Isn't trance like all that ATB shit, man!?

Isn't rap like all that Vanilla Ice shit, man!?

5) This shit gives me a headache, man!

Don't worry. I'm sure if you sit down and chill with a Slip Knot CD it'll disappear in a jiffy.

6) You must be on drugs to listen to this shit, man!

I'll start listening to those clean cut boys from Cypress Hill then. They set a much better example.

7) I could make this shit on a computer, man!

Okay. Though I'm sure the world would miss the half-baked metal stuff being written in your garage right now with that wierd, stoned friend of yours.

8) That shit is so repetitive, man!

Yeah, I agree. The three notes they used on the last Pantera album were far more varied.

9) Only ******s listen to that trance shit of yours, man!

Only people who can't spell the word "******" listen to that metal shit of yours, "man"........

Things that piss me off...

-People who think Hard House, House and EVEN American House is Trance
-People who don't know what techno is and jsut say it sounds like Trance / Happy Hardcore.
-People who think it's repetative
-People who think it's too fast
-People who think it hurts ur head
-People who dont like it beacuse "theres no words"
-It's not real music its all made on computers
-It's just some guy pressing button (really pisses me off )
-Isnt it like darude and public domain stuff that all soudns the same (makes me go demented that one)

What it boils down to is threse pepel are idiots, they dont have an open mind and jsut listen to cheesy music. They dont understand that trance has structure and composition, unliek rap / rock which is the usual shite these dickheads listen too. well, thats my opinion.

And renegade, i loved ur post mate!

same here. i think im one of 3 peopel in my whole college (out of about 700) who are full on trance fans. yet people say its trendy musci hmm. theyre gimps who jsut here chartbound-cheese

and as for the classical music bit. in essance most trance is classic music composed form an electric ochestra, and from that you can prove that all emetions and can be created from trance, because it is an artform. you can call metal or rap artistic music can you?!

Yeah it's weird that they say trance is very trendy when it seems like nobody likes it (at least it seems like people are afraid to admit they like it). I feel kind of exclusive loving this truly GREAT music

I think a lot of people who do not like trance are not open minded. They only like the commercial sh!t because they are afraid to like something which is not listened by 99.7% of the world's population.

When people say that they could make a trance hit in 2 mins because it is so unbelievable easy to make, I just say to them "why don't you do it? Why don't you quit your day job right now and buy a computer and get rich in 2 mins?"

Peace!

Posted by Zombie0915 on Oct-27-2001 16:33:

this reminds me of that stupidest things people have told you about trance thread a while back. I get pretty much the same comments when I play trance in my car, and I have this on going struggle with the lacal radio dj's who are calling for an angel the hot new dance song because I emailed it to them and they played it last week. People here don't know shit about trance. They all hate anything electronic sounding that isn't rap or pop, but are completely oblivious to the fact that they absolutely love trance when its in the background of a movie or commercial. The people around me jsut don't know, and dont like music that they haven't heard before, so I will have a better music collection than them until they figure it out.

Posted by flystyler on Oct-27-2001 16:53:

I have just got back from lanzarote where i went with my mates. I took my mp3 player with my trance stuff on it, 6gig to be exact. Brilliant mp3 player, but enough about that.

I plyed the riva remix of you guessed it iio - rapture, then played kosheen - catch (way out west remix). I made people who normally listen to stuff like linkin park, and other stuff get into trance, and start singing the lyrics.

I think that most people can find trance boring, but give them something to sing along to and they will love it. So if i try and get my mates into trance i use vocal tracks to start off with, andf the they get into the more pure trance, as they understand, and get the feeling that i get when i listen to trance.

And breath

So basically people need something to get into it, and i think it is vocals. Then they will understand

Hope you understand what i mean, buit i intend on converting many people in the future

We need to rid the world of people who listen to rap and hiphop, They dont realize that rap and hiphop originated from gangs and hoodlums and all they rap about is nothing but the bad things, Nothing ever positive, Anyways, For trance, Trance is always positive, It takes us on a great peaceful journey.

As much as I hate hip hop and rap now, I can't knock it because I used to LIVE of that kinda stuff before I started loving Trance and all genre of electronica. If it wasn't for Trance, I'd be lining up at HMV waiting to get Enimemn's new cd telling you to 'keep it real'

Making that statement is just as bad as people who say crap about trance. Think about it.

I have to disagree with you on that. Early rap and hiphop was made to improve the situation of afro americans. And even though they seemingly rapped about negative sides of community their message was positive. I think they wanted to improve their situation and they told us the world as they lived it. Please listen to "Grandmaster Flash - New York New York". Listen to it even if you don't like rap, just listen to the lyrics. I think they have some really good points.

I think the original rap music was a great turning point for black music. But today it has become too commercial. Rap after 1990 is too commercial for my taste

Yes I am a tranceaddict, but I'm open minded.

Just remember the old Mayday Anthem: WE ARE DIFFERENT!

Posted by TigerClaw on Oct-27-2001 20:01:

I used to listen to rap durring the 80s but I gotten tired of it in favor of house music at the time, then came techno, and then trance.

Posted by cheesenip on Oct-27-2001 23:53:

Real Music = Classical... nothing else is "real" music. seriously.

Trance IS repetitive. You could argue that so is rap, pop, music but those words have vocals in them. Most of the time (note the word: "most") the vocals trance has in it are several lines repeated over and over. I may be wrong on this but the songs that I have come across, this is usually the case.

You can't say that people that dislike trance are "closeminded"... sure they don't know much about trance, but neither did we when we first started listening to trance. THe difference is that we liked trance so we explored it more. THey don't like trance so they WON'T explore it anymore because they don't like any of it.

that's a pretty ignorant statement right there. Hiphop did NOT derive from gangs and hoodlums! See you're just as "ignorant" as the people that dislike trance.

Peoples: just accept the fact that not everyone will like trance. I mean, not everybody likes rap or classical or rock or pop music. Who cares if they don't like trance? Does that somehow offend you? Think about it.

I listen to trance AND hiphop AND rock. Yes, I DO think trance is repetitive. Yet I'll manage until there is a song that is literally repeating the same melody over and over...

I'm not criticizing anybody that's posted in this thread, but I just want to remind everyone that everybody has different tastes in music and you can't bash the others just because they don't listen to what you like. There are ALWAYS going to be "ignorant" and "close-minded" people. Get over it. Now quit complaining about how not everyone in the world listens to trance and just GO LISTEN TO TRANCE.

I expect flame from this reply because that what most of you will most likely do because I "dissed" trance.

Posted by LiquidX on Oct-28-2001 04:19:

When I say that I listen to trance.. they tell me everything that JAYD said.. they say that they all sound the same, its not music at all.. boring.. too monotone .. and that its druggies music.. I hate when they say that.

Posted by kurai on Oct-28-2001 07:31:

"I could do such a track in a few minutes"

I'm listening to Flight 643.. Someone comes.. says "Isn't that this Safri Duo track?"

Well who cares as long as the trance generation won't die..

Posted by krusader on Oct-28-2001 21:41:

yea last night we had some annoying bitch over while we were drinking... she tried telling me trance is too repetitive, then i asked her what her favorite music was and she said drum-n-bass.... DNB!!!!

sigh

Posted by Ste on Oct-28-2001 23:44:

actaully good thought... if only a minority of people like trance then we can enevr be classed as say a "trendy" or a "wigga" or a "greebo" because hardly anybody knows about the music proper, and if hardly anyone likes it it will prevent cheesey pop trance becoming about like pop-rock limp bizkit and pop-rap eminem! also i will alwyas be individual to and have far superior taste to all my freinds!
