I don't necessarily condone this, but it does appear Rummy's got some more troubles ahead:

quote:
Just days after his resignation, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is about to face more repercussions for his involvement in the troubled wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. New legal documents, to be filed next week with Germany's top prosecutor, will seek a criminal investigation and prosecution of Rumsfeld, along with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, former CIA director George Tenet and other senior U.S. civilian and military officers, for their alleged roles in abuses committed at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison and at the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

It will be interesting to see if they actually have direct evidence that ties Rummy to the torture memos and Abu Ghraib. I doubt it will muster much of anything, but it's interesting nonetheless.

This is a waste of Germany's time. Seriously, what are they going to do to him, come to the US, cause an international incident, and forcibly take him back to Germany?

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing him and Gonzalez in the gallows, too.

From the original article:

quote:

Germany was chosen for the court filing because German law provides "universal jurisdiction" allowing for the prosecution of war crimes and related offenses that take place anywhere in the world.

So it's not like Germany is suing him, they just chose Germany as the place for it the trial to take place.

You pull the shit that the united states (rumsfeld) has pulled in the last 4 years.. you ignore international delegation completely.. you pay the consequences.

He is now out of a job.

If he EVER wants to travel abroad again out of the US and this conviction goes through?

He goes to jail.

That's a hell of a shitty life; one he deserves. He's got a lot of neurotic mental illnesses and he dragged our entire country through along with them.

Good riddance, whatever the fuck happens to his sorry ass.
