Oh, now i have heard everything!

Dean, everytime i have been to an AFL match, i have seen fights inside the ground, outside the ground... Bigger fights than i had seen at all my time in going to a soccer game.

Ie. Essendon v collingwood i saw a guy stabbed in the eye with a pen in a massive brawl.

Difference? You never read about it in the paper. If it happens at the soccer its front page plus sprinkled with a few extra white lies. What you read isnt always the truth!

Although some people I guess cant accept it.....

Violence in any sport is sad to see, however I do remember some very bad brutal fights from the NSL days.

It was only a minority of the dickhead hooligans who made the other clubs get a bad name, its their fault and some of the corrupt khunt board members, who fukt things up.

Im just glad soccer has finally become recognized in the WHOLE of Australia!

Did anyone go to the mariners game last wk? That was fuckin awsome! Within the first 13 min there where 4 goals and one red card.
Both teams played like the local under 16's but it was still entertaining.

Paulie, if you couldn't see the need for some pretty drastic changes to the way soccer/football was run in this country - and yes, that did have to involve removing the ethnicity from the picture - then you're living in a dreamland.

It's tough that clubs like South Melbourne and Melbourne Knights especially had to suffer, and have left some people feeling like they've been alienated when they supported through thick and thin previously.

But getting all dirty on a new generation of football followers simply because your clubs (and lets face it, supporters of those old clubs and the self-interest of their managers were the cause of most of these problems) aren't involved in the a-league is pretty futile.

I'm going to tomorrow's match and I'm going to love it. It'll be my 4th match this year, and considering I would never have dreamed of going to an old NSL match, I'd have to say they're doing something right.
