im such a nerd i never even been to the underground yet, or any of the pubs on campus

Posted by vendetta999 on Nov-15-2006 16:43:

underground offered you guys a monthly? wow...congrats.

in terms of the event....me and my friends stayed till the very end cuz our buddies' mixer was being used. i got there around 12, apparently when everyone was leaving. lol

it was pretty rammed when i got in there, i remember actually being caught offguard by the amount of people there. slowly but surely, they all started to filter out shortly after but there was no question about the music. after all that drum and base....it started to get REALLY good.

congrats to EMSAY on a job well done.

Don't worry about it. Most people haven't been there either, unless their into that Hip-Hop crap haha.

Been there a few times, and its pretty sketchy. Lots of weird dudes there and stuff like that. Definitely not my style.

But you should come out to the next EMSAY event. For the 20 minutes I was there..it was pretty decent haha.

Roll call thread is the review thread? okk
I'll post what i wrote before as my review on another forum

Oi, I new about this event for quiet sometime, i came to support Mike since I know he would do the same. Plus you cant go wrong for a free party. I'm not sure if i should sugar coat my review or not... I heard some sketchy mixes some quick fade in's and fade outs :/ I'm not going to rate any of the dj's mixing skills, but i will on crowd response and there was really nice turn out of ppl dance floor was packed

I showed up at like 10 something, I'm not a big fan of anthem's or remixes of popular mainstream tunes I heard a lot of it, I still danced of course. vibe was nice According to the set times it looked like it was Endless Sound on the decks. tune selection worked great for the venue and the crowd, but as for orignality not so much
6/10

Matt just owned me period, amazing mixing and track selection I was dancing the entire time. mad props I hope to play with you some time.
10/10

and this is about when the booze started to kick in and things get fuzzy

Z Quest, loved the drum and bass new a good chunk of the tunes no rating cause i was in and out a lot

Rezza, Loved the tunes you played Only You i love the electro thats all i really remember haha

Mike, I caught the first 30mins of ur set, great mixing nice tracks as usual! I would o stayed longer i kinda pissed my camera broke
When i left the energy was simply insane
9/10

Over all was a good night minus my camera being destoryed... I was only hit by some glowsticks twice LoL surprised i didnt loose and eye! Losta nice ppl, Good crowd, Was great seeing Paul the Engineer! I had a great time i would definately come out next time

I'll be there for sure for the next event

I have pictures, I need to salvage my camera since its bust and get the pictures... man i suck with shit breaking on me lately, first my car and now my camera (and it wasnt my fault my camera broke for once lol)

Cheers man!

I want to thank everyone for their support last night, it was easily one of the best nights of my life. We expected maybe 100, but you guys came out and rammed the place. The bartenders were freaking out and telling me how nice it was to finally see people in Contact.

It was surreal meeting and talking to people after my set because I have never had the opportunity to play for so many people who loved the music. Seeing everyone rocking out to 'Dangerous Power' is something I will remember forever.

This is gonna be the start of something massive. Cannot wait to see the pictures!

Thanks again for the review Transid, and thanks to everyone for making this such a mindblowingly successful night!

Tracklist of my set, as I can recall:

Eric Prydz vs. Floyd - Proper Education
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Dirty Funker remix)
Sarah McLachlan - Fallen (Gabriel & Dresden remix)
Gabriel & Dresden - Dangerous Power
Shiloh & Luke Chable - Oz
Questia - Nexus Asia
Armin van Buuren - Sunburn

Matt van Buuren came out a bit tonight, but whatever

Matt you played one kickass set; though I've told you that already

Was a great night though - definitely enjoyed it; and yeah the music early on was a bit erm... commercial, but it picked up eventually. Shame the mic was a bit screwed and the track wasn't getting announced properly but either way it was awesome to see/hear people's reactions when it came on

Can't wait for the next one in January!

Posted by Misanthrope on Nov-16-2006 04:54:

I had a good time. Thanks to Negar, Geli and Jeff. Surprise Appearance - MAKO!!!!!! wicked to see Transid and MIKEY!

to the people of emsay, i'm glad to hear that you guys got this chance to host your nights. The venue is pretty big, the lighting is AWESOME. however, you guys REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED TO WORK ON THE SOUND. I'm sorry to say but it was totally appauling. To the dj's. please work on the skills. I'm not going to point out which ones.

If the sound and music were much better, I would totally start recommending for people to come out and support EMSAY.

thanks for the fun out on a tuesday night!

Posted by Misanthrope on Nov-16-2006 05:02:

yup! I probably left at the time the party REALLY started happening.

Posted by Tiesto4Life on Nov-16-2006 05:13:

for next one, everyone's gotta come out, no excuses!!

great turnaround indeed. the stage was awsome!! if you guys get that place rammed like put ppl on the second floor up there that'd be simply the place to be. keep working hard and i'm sure in a matter of months someone will become a millionaire

came to support my fellow partner in crime dj retza. rez you suck man you f'ked up so many times you were horrible lol jks jks actually to tell you the truth i did not see a difference between your set or tiestos nice opening with let me be - parker & hanson!! and then you went just plain down and dirty!

mikey sorry had to work early would have loved to stay till the end to catch your set, knowing the way you play, i'm sure it was delicious.

again, next time, get your ass to the underground not only to support local talent but also to have a blast! oh and i heard steve lawler is spinning there in january

FUCKING RIGHT Matt! ^5

Glad to hear buddy! But I already know your skills, so there wasnt any doubt in my mind that you'd NOT be one of the mixing-challenged DJs mentioned.

Glad to hear it was a success and that yuor set was amazing! I really do miss my Marshall & Goulet sets Matt!

(^^^ FIXED)

You mean I WOULDN'T be one of the mixing-challenged DJs mentioned?

:P

And Mike and Retza were in no way mixing challenged. They both put on great shows.
