He was an awesome mayor when I lived in North York, yeah, meh in TO, but I sure miss the charisma he had. Always fun to read about all the drama he had as mayor.

Ditto
He was great.

And thats the sad part of all this

If that is how you feel I would recommend you purchase some property in Toronto so that you have a vote, otherwise you clearly don't care as much as you profess to.

Here in lies the problem with Canadian politics at all levels. We all claim to be interested and seek action but few of us are willing to make the sacrafices necessary to force action. Unless we decide that rather then talking about change we are willing to actively seek it then we have no one to blame but ourselves for the stagnency of government, at all levels.

We 905ers also do care about Toronto municipal elections as we also pay taxes to Toronto.

While that's understandable bitching about the decisions the citizenry of Toronto makes is not a solution. If you really care then lobby the provice to allow/force 905 representation in Toronto City Counsel.

Well Jayx...I held my nose and voted for Pitfield...

I am VERY disappointed in David Miller's first three years..he really has done nothing...but whine that is!

Millions in gas tax and extra revenue from the Province and the Feds...and the TTC is still having budget problems..not to mention poor service standards.

A solution to our garbage that will see another part of the province burdened...funny how he was against sending it to Adams Mine...but London will do just fine!

Accepting a TTC subway car contact that was not the lowest, in order to provide a couple of hundred jobs for Thunder bay...yet continuing to fight against the Island Airport expansion which will provide hundreds of jobs right here in Downsview...

The list goes on...

I wish there had been a better challenger to the mayor's chair...

At least my City Councillor was re-elceted...one of the few right wing folk to counter an even bigger shift to the left...

God help this "world class" city!

Frankly Jayx, there is only one answer - no decent challenge. You support Pitfield for ideological reasons, however she was never in contention and that may be a good thing. Her assertion that she could expand the subway at $100 million/km is ludicrous - It cost more than double that to build the Sheppard line.

Although people in the 905 may be unhappy with Toronto council, citizens in T.O. didn't have a problem with a council that accomplished little. There wasn't anything to vote for, and there wasn't much to vote against (that hadn't been voted against in the last municipal). This equals contentment with the status quo and that's what emerged at the end of election night.

I agree with the right wing that the Bombardier deal was terrible for the city, but the average voter isn't concerned with the mechanics of the deal, just that a deal gets done. At the end of the day, Miller delivered, even if the price wasn't the best.

Is shipping garbage a good idea? Hell no, however incineration is even less palatable to Toronto voters and Miller certainly isn't going there anytime soon. Essentially, voters went with the devil they knew versus the devil they didn't.

I miss Montreal politics... there's always someone from the Rhinoceros party running for some kind of position anytime there is an election, and you always read about it. If someone entertaining ballot-spoiler existed this election in Toronto, there sure wasn't any blip on the radar screen. Perhaps I should have picked up a Now paper or other free paper.

That's because there were so many of them...the "blip" became a collective "blob"...

38 people ran for mayor...some of the debates were ridiclous!

But...my family and I have deciced that we will ALL run for mayor next time, and which of us can get the most votes!

Sean Miller seems like the best choice for a Sonic resident. I would think.
