Yes it is, so are a bunch of his older stuff. Wish he went back to that sound. Dunno what is up with his new album..it was supposed to be released. "Stoned In Love" is absolute un-emotional garbage. Some of the most emotional trance tunes were instrumental.

Original is better IMHO.

Echano- Nothing To Live For (Icone Remix)

The piano melody is so sad, and think of the name of the track! Very emotional.

Hubert Parry - Jerusalem
Handel - Zadok the Priest
Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings
and a fair few other pieces of classical music that remind me of my time at boarding school...
Cafe del Mar Volumen Diez

Trance doesn't really make me sad...

gouryella-ligaya (hiver & hammer mix)
i dunno theres somethin about when the main melody comes in that gets me a lil upset
also dutch force- deadline
like when iam driving in my car and i hear it i just start to think about life and the bad times and stuff like that

Trance? Fuck no. Even some of Oliver Lieb's more lovely productions like Lonely Casseopaya or Casablanca doesn't pull the ol' heartstrings as much, so what chance do lesser talented producers (re: 99% of 'em) have?

I think you don't understand Trance

Posted by Danny Ocean on Nov-15-2006 22:24:

i don't think i've ever cried to a electronica track..

but i have to other types of music.

Posted by Clovis on Nov-15-2006 22:38:

Moby - Memory Gospel is a heavy one for me.

Well Crying beacuse of music, on my case it's related to euphoria.

If you can't feel euphoric about Trance, then I think you are not enjoying the music at the maximum.

You may not cry, but at least you would understand that some people get euphoric about it.

All the remixes slaughter the beauty of the original mix.

Why can't I enjoy trance on a deep, hypnotic, meditative level? Why does it only have to be about euphoria? There is more to trance than what the Dutch have been feeding you since the late 90s, you know.

It's hard to get the tears with trance or any EDM for that matter but here's a few melodic trance tunes that just pop to mind for a particular reason...

Free Radical- "Surreal"

Airwave- "Alone in the Dark"

Insigma- "open your eyes"

Firewall- "reflections"

Planisphere- "NYE", "Moonshine"

most of planisphere tracks actually...

For non-trance i would go for this one: a trully beautifull tune...

Amazing instrumental music by these guys. Most emotional music you'll ever hear and has NOTHING to do with emo. (people that don't know call every emotional rock tune EMO...These guys are amazing post/prog-rockers)

and this one:

It's kinda melancholic and strangely uplifting at the same time though...that's why probably so many people loved them...

Yeah both are great but the "Thrillseekers Remix" just sounds more emotional. The "Original Progressive Mix" is just more full on euphoric rush. The "Thrillseekers Remix" just sounds more melancholy.

Paul Van Dyk - Connected

Why? This was the song I was listening to in the car while going to the airport for my exchange trip to Japan. It reminds me of all the things I saw on my trip and how much I will miss Japan. When the melody goes I just start thinking about Shibuya at night standing in the middle of that super busy intersection and just looking all around. Then all the small little things like eating at a Ramen house or drinking beer bought from a vending machine at 8am (me and my friends were bored).

Posted by halexander837 on Nov-16-2006 03:38:

I remember crying over one tune, but i can't remember what it was.

Posted by fbgdavidson on Nov-16-2006 04:57:

I forgot....

Brian Eno -An Ascent

Certainly chokes me up...

Posted by sweetcaroline on Nov-16-2006 05:16:

Can only think of one, but not EDM...

Jeff Buckley- Hallelujah

Not only an incredibly beautiful and haunting song, but Buckley's tragic drowning death in 1996 adds to the sadness. Makes me cry just thinking of that song.

Robert Nickson-out There (fifth dimension)

I know you would come with that
but I also Love and enjoy Psy & Goa Trance.
Maybe you understand that psy, but you don't understand Euphoric Trance.

I also Enjoy trance on a Deep, Hypnotic and meditative level.

and yes also Goa makes me cry sometimes, it's just the beauty of the music what makes you feel like that.

If I listen to The Muses rapt for example, I can get into that state of deep hypnotic, meditative level that you are talking about, and I get to cry at the same time. What's the problem with that?,

I find in situations like this that it's more of a "curled up fetus style on the ground, choking for air" feeling than a tear-inducing one.

however I did cry myself to sleep after seeing Tiesto. All those trainwrecks... horrifying, really. The sound of those galloping kicks is burned in my brain forever

The kind of shit you just keep on pushing but won't come out. It hurts, it burns, and when it finally comes out... that smell... oh man.

I understand it, but it doesn't cause me to tear up. But I suppose different emotions cause different reactions in some folks. Trance music doesn't for me because the emotions that it tingles at my psyche aren't tear-inducing.
