I got one: I ignored it and stopped using torrents for the most part; when I did use torrents I made sure I used Peer Guardian 2 at the same time; no problems since. Now, I essentially never use torrents and d/l all my goodies via http/ftp (i.e., direct links).

For those of you saying rapidshare - unless you're paying to be a premium member, RS sucks humongous cock. And if you're paying to steal, might as well use newsgroups - it's like 145522 times better than RS.

what i did when i was having BT issues w/ rogers 2 years ago.

had to switch to newsgroups. worked fantastically.

now though after playing around w/ settings, i no longer have the same problem and can DL BTs again.

Anyways, newgroups is a decent rout to go...

I use sympatico, and downloead like mad, never had any probs

Posted by TranceGrooves on May-10-2007 10:51:

i have had rogers since the begin of 2005. using BT i have downloaded and uploaded over 400GB since then. Average download speed is 450kb/s ... average upload speed is set to 40kb/s with megaupload my download speed is about 375kb/s and upload is at 60kb/s

i have no idea which isp you ppl talk about lolz

if you get shitty download speeds or upload speeds it is not just because of your connection or who your ISP is. it also depends on a number of other things like which and how many applications are being run on your computer and how much crap your computer has on it etc etc etc

what program to you use to grab?

i forget the one was using when i had to use newsnets, but it scrwed up my system processes.

when the prog was open, the computer would get choppy until i shut dwon the program (meaning i would only DL at night or while at work)

3 mins of smooth normal computer behaviour, then 2 mins of real choppy (strobe-like) performance, then back to normal.

this cycle would repeat. if i ever go back to usenet, i wanna use a different program.

i read somewhere on the forums while researching my BayTSP/Rogers problem and it seems that Peer Guardian 2 is dead...

my thoughts? maybe your PG2 is working cenik, but your main update file may be out of date, and may be useless with new IPs being used by the RIAA/MPAA

I don't use it b/c it doesn't work on Vista; I think the folks over there were having some problems over the last few months and that is why the program is failing to update. I suggest not using torrents, esp. not public ones like Torrentspy and Demonoid.

ahh i see.. i forgot about the vista non compliance.. i'm going to try it on an XP box. thx!

no torrentspy
no demonoid

i'm going to assume no Piratebay either (where i got tagged by BayTSP)

does it really matter if it's private or public? i mean if you're downloading an aXXo movie file, it shouldn't matter where you get it from b/c there is only one aXXo.torrent per movie, no?

No, not to a great extent; but I believe you are more likely to be targeted by companies like BayTSP (an IP spying company) by using very popular, public sites as opposed to private sites. Although, as you indicated, downloading very popular rips, e.g., AXXO's, will likely increase the likelihood that you'll be targeted (e.g. with myself and an AXXO rip of Babel).

Perhaps you ought not fret too much: nobody in Canada has ever had legal action brought against them b/c of this kind of uploading/downloading.

I'm outta here, vacation time!!! See you guys @ Freedom
