EDM will always have elements from other genres. I'm not an expert or anything on this. But EDM is expanding all around the world, people that love and appreciate EDM are inputting their local genres into DnB , Trance and way more.

And we defintely have no right to say what's EDM or not. I've had such arguements many times with people saying that Trance is just messed up, and that House music is the real EDM. I just dont bother arguing, because to me, it's all EDM. I'm a big fan of trance. I listen to it more than house or DnB.

But I show appreciation to all the types of music in this world, because I want them to have appreciation for my favorite genre aka EDM.

btw Nice Signature

I'm not saying that it was bad or anything, I was just taken a little off guard when I first got there. Like I've said before, I didn't get stay that long, so I can't talk about the quality of the music selection or the other DJs for that matter. I guess I didn't know what to really expect, thats all.

I think its great to have various DJs playing different kinds of EDM as I love many different styles and stuff. And the event seemed to be really well organized and planned out. It seemed like the event was a great success and hopefully next time i'll be able to stay for the entire thing.

As for DJs next time? I have no suggestions at this time, but i'll post anything I think of in the EMSAY forum.

I'll admit I still love hearing ORIGINAL NUTTAH and someone played some DAFT PUNK FROM THE HOMEWORK ALBUM! Of course, I had to go WOOO and then some punks on the dancefloor started going OOAH OOAH! OOAH! OOAH!

Jeff was awesome and bought glowsticks to support Emsay [so he claims. hehe jk]

I got to say hi to Transiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid and RobbbbbbbbbbbbIn.

this night has a lot of potiential to be absolutely wicked. There were TONs of people who were having a good time.

Our own mini guv at Yorku

the end.

This is exactly what I want to hear. This is your honest opinion. And I respect that. Because with such opinions, our next night coming up in January will be 100 times better.

I dont get mad or any sort when I read such messages. I ponder over it. And discuss it with my executives. And we deal with these mini-situations and solve it.

Majority of the sound might have sucked. I found that too. But I realized when I was in the middle of the dance floor, the sound was perfect. It's ofcourse a perfect venue, cheap drinks, sound sucked, music sucked; but hey We're only a Student Club, not ID&T.

Nonetheless, we're going to the best we can to make it better for our next event. I'll make sure we fix the sound, the music. Is there anything else ?

this is a history of Drum n Bass that was posted by one of our members. Hopefully it'll help.

I know this is TRANCE addict, but do we just talk about trance only here ?

I'm kind of new to the TA scene.

nope.

oh and thank you for being so diplomatic [right choice of word?] about this situation. Unlike some people getting their panties into a knot.

But come on! Thats an absolutely pretty freaking RIDICULOUS statement to make.

Trance is messed up? Not real EDM? Outrageous statement. Trance is CLEARLY, OBVIOUSLY an electronic music genre. There can be absolutely no doubt.

I'm not commenting on if anything thing else is or not, I'm just saying from this comment which mentioned trance specially.. .it is ludicrous that so that trance isnt 'REAL' EDM...

Just bc one likes house better or house is more popular, that doesnt any less so make trance NON-EDM music.

Jem

I keep saying this because being one of the DJs after 11:30, I find it offensive to be pooled in with the clowns that were on before me.

I don't find it that hard to understand.

Are you planning to make djing a professional career?

If yes, GET OVER YOURSELF.

1) if you know you can beat match and mix -
I PROBABLY WASNT TALKING ABOUT YOU.

2) I PURPOSELY DIDNT SAY WHAT TIME I LEFT BECAUSE I MADE A GENERAL
COMMENT I DIDNT WANT TO POINT ANYONE OUT - too late because you
made it too fucking obvious

3) If you are going to be a DJ. GET OVER YOURSELF. You can't please
everyone in your audience ALL THE TIME.

I look forward to seeing Matt the Clown spin again.
You might want to work on your track selection. Clowny.

Sorry,

I have been working in the theatre for 56 hours since Saturday and I am just beat, having a bad day, and having someone potentially talk shit about what was an awesome night for me was just the last straw... but it's still no excuse.

Sorry to everyone, I was being a douchebag.

I sense a spiraling out of control theme in this this thread..lol

But nonetheless whatever the "situation" was with the DJ'ing quality, lets just face it that mistakes are going to happen.

Overall, people were thanking Shaun and Saq for bringing an Electronica night to York. Yeah, so some of the more observant
people had problems with the sound or some of the DJ sets, but I think we can all agree it was a successful 1st event. And thats whats important.

I'm sure Shaun's going to take in all criticisms into consideration and the 2nd party will be that much more better. Hopefully this time I'll be there

Peace.

+1

It does seem like the event went well and had lots of success and its great that the Underground has a change from...whatever you call that music they normally play!
