lol, I wouldnt voice my opinion had I not had first hand visual evidence of them at work.

I think the PS3 is better in the long run too because of the blue ray player.

i heard on the radio that the blue ray player and the other one(which is in the 360) are nearly identical and that to the average consumer the players will not make a diffrence. the only time it will make a diffrenece is if you have a huge ass tv and you sit right in front of it. im not to keen on all the terminolgy so forgive me if i fucked somthing up.

movies are gonna be changing format to blue ray dvd's.

i bought a pair of sunglasses that are worth the same as the ps3 a week ago haha. A bit more actually.

blu ray were doing horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrifuckingbly compared to HD-DVD before Playstation 3.

Before the playstation 3 was released, the top selling (reserve,w/e) Blu Ray disc was Superman Returns at rank ~#1100 and the top selling for HD-DVD was Superman Returns at ~#150

I've read that both formats may fail to the new 10-layer DVDs?

To be honest, the best looking game out right now happens to be on the 360 - Gears of War.

In the long run, PS3 will look better.

But HONESTLY... looks aren't everything.

HD-DVD will kill the blu-ray, no fucking doubt about that.

BLEW RAY will be yet another item on Sony's long list of superior technological devices that have flopped. You figure after all these years they'd learn. Oh well.... IBM thought so too. Look where they are now in terms of PC sales (not counting my favorite ThinkPad - which DOES RULE. tHE ONly IBM product that I can say safely "it doesn't suck")... The name alone will cause it to fail miserably in Southern US. I can see it now, redneck at walmart: "Um, do you have "BLEW RAY" version of 'Days of Thunder'?" - "Um... sir, I don't think anyone BLEW RAY in DAYS OF THUNDER. Could I possibly interest you in a 'Brokeback Mountain'?"

I don't know much about blu-ray, but I agree in so far as Sony has a stupidly short-sighted approach to developing technologies. It's a real pity, because proprietary issues aside, they are capable of producing some nice devices. I don't know whether it's their greed or their music and movie production subsidiaries that drive them to proprietary formats, but either way it harms their bottom line.

Fukkk that! Oh, and about DVD-A: my car came with DVD-A capable player. Great concept.. just one problem... NO FRIGGIN TITLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR IT!!!! There must be under 50 DVD-A titles ONLY!!! Half of them are YANNI. the rest is some crappy hippy music! I wish Acura gave me damn MP3 capability instead of useless DVD-A that is on its way out the door anyway! bummer.

edit: speaking of DVD Audio. I too wish that more artists would release their music on DVD Audio, taking advantage of the extra space to encode the music in 5.1 Dolby Digital. After listening to Hawtin's DE9 Transitions, everything else just seems so lifeless.

i'm gonna wait until linux is stable on the wii...then use it upstairs as a second computer with a tv for browsing the internet, etc.
