Went last night, hungover as hell right now - closed the night out at McVeighs at Church and Richmond listening to the Irish band...good times.

More food than in previous years, and better IMO. Couldn't find any Australia booths...maybe we were all too drunk.

Anyone planning on going tomorrow?

LOL
I just drunk dialled John like 3 times. We went this afternoon with Mark's mum (Mark's dad was away) and we spent the whole afternoon with her. A coughing fit had us leaving at 4 before I could spend $70 on a 20 year old bottle of port (probably for the best)

It was AWESOME going during the day. Only caught a tiny bit of the bar star crowd on the way out. The food was much better than last year.

How much did you spend in food and drink tickets?

Posted by Skipper on Nov-26-2006 02:00:

Personally, only about $25...but my BF spent probably about 80 and I think his mum paid our admission.

We bought mostly 3-5 ticket drinks though, plus used tickets for food. It can certainly be done for cheaper.

Took Jason's advice and went yesterday w/Dallas. Ended up not getting there til 4pm, as Dallas had to go to the hospital for x-rays due to an arm injury, but we made it- crippled and all!

Didn't want to get too wasted as I was driving, so hit up the food row first. Star discovery at the show had to be the green apple beer from Nickel Brook Brewery (Burlington). I hate beer, but this stuff I could drink cuz it really tasted like green apple. They were also very generous w/their half pours. There was a booth of some bartending school that had a lot of mixed drinks u could order off their menu. Portions were listed for each ingredient, and granted the cups they were using were too small to fit those amounts in them, the bartender was literally pouring a 1/2 second pour of the booze into the shaker. It was mostly juice/ mixer u were getting. Didn't go back and order from them again. Best laugh is always the bottled water booths, where 1 booth was selling a bottle of water called "Bling" for $25!!! Found the distributor for the gin we fell in love with last year, but they were out of it. As the day was nearing end, food prices were definitely dropping, I even left with a to go container of food this lady was just throwing at me, lol. Pasta from Rosa's Place at the end of the day was absolutely rich and filling. We got 2 samples (of 2 varieties) for 2 tickets. There was also an apple jam stand that had an Apple Pie in a Jar jam on display for tasting, it was soooo good, but they were sold out, so the guy just gave me what was left in the jar to take home, which was very nice of him.

Aparently there was a stand w/Absinthe there- wish I'd seen it! Only downfall of arriving when we did was not having any programs/ maps left for us to know who was situated where. Never did end up trying a single glass of wine, lol.

Other end of day deals included getting 3 pricey triple cream brie's for $10 (normally $8/ea), and being given some very expensive flowers to take home from a food booth, altho we got asked by 3 different security guards whether we were given the flowers, as if we stole them or something. I mean why would they police that? It was the end of the show, and its not like we're walking out w/a glass case or roll of carpet or something belonging to a rental company. Jesus....!

the 3 or 4 pints of Guinness @ McVeigh's were such a good idea, lol...WASTED! but Irish bands are fun...I think a reprise of Christmas Eve there last year is in order

lesson learned from the wine show: Grappa is *disgusting* and not a good way to end the night

and the aftermath from the weekend

saturday: some drunken fool tried to walk outta the convention hall with a vintage keeper fridge, and most of the emergency stops on the elscalators were tripped, sunday morning there were only three working in the south building..

yet another fun year with the food and wine expo. hehe

I had a fun time there, surprisingly since I just got out of the hospital for my arm injury. I slipped on a bag at my apartment & fell and torn tendon's in my shoulder and FUk it REALLY REALLY REALLY hurts!!!!

So yeah - the 2007 food & wine show - food galore, treats, starbucks creme liquor(my fav), wine and beers, beers beers... I am allergic to wine, so I couldn't partake in such adventures, but I did have a taste of pink champagne, and by the end they were giving out the left over food left right and centre! I think we got a container of sardines (tapas) for 1 dollar! Mean while during the day they were being sold for a dollar a piece! So yeah, there was this preserve place that had Apple pie in a jar, and OMG was it yummy in the tummy! It was the pie filling, they were sold out from buying it and the person in charge of the booth was so nice that they gave us the rest of the sample. wasn't that so kind of him!? I think so!

Anyways, left there with a pretty good buzz and it helped ease the pain of my arm and yeah that's about all folks!
