I've only ever had to tell you a handful of times about something you did that crossed the line... So, if you're really not going to post anymore - sorry to see that happen - but - some of the comments in this thread make it seem like 'TA' is to blame (or the masses) when really the issue is between you and the minority (person/group?) that communicated they didn't appreciate your presence.

Well spoken words from the king of negativity himself.
Honestly, sometimes I think you get up on the wrong side of the bed every morning or something.

I don't see the problem.
Are promoters now the new sort of plague or something?
BS.
Jeff is a TA. He sometimes does the promoter thing.
He's not like some others who just post to promote and that's it.
Whoever says Jeff does not contribute to TOTA as a TA is rather silly.
I dunno about you guys, but I always considered Jeff the TA we see on the board usually. He sometimes wears the Jeff the promoter hat once in a while because that's his job, but I never saw anything wrong it with.
This is getting just stupid.

I don't know why people are replying to Jeff here. He's not going to respond since he's is no longer posting on TA (except for promotional activities for Sonic and his own events).
If you have something to say to Jeff at least do him the courtesy of doing it via email so he can reply.

I agree sending an email would be prudent and smart, but simply bc one will no longer be -posting- on TA in a personal manner does not mean one will no longer be -reading- TA.
Though Jeff stated he would no longer be posting on TA in a non-business facet, I didnt get the impression that he would never again allow his eyes to grace non-business related threads and posts (though one would assume he'd read less as he was posting less, true)
You (personally) may know for a fact that Jeff will NOT read this thread (through talking to him in person, on phone, or via MSN), and thus that we need to send our replies to him in an email, but the way you worded the post really seems to make ppl look ignorant and stupid for posting here, when it really wasnt that clear that Jeff woudlnt read these comments (but only that he wouldnt post his own comments anylonger, except in a business facet).
--
Jeff, sorry to hear you feel you need to go to maintain your integrity. That's too bad and is sad to hear. All the best and know that I didnt feel this about you AT ALL.
(Yes, I will PM him this msg, so even if he's not reading this thread, he will receive these words and sentiment)

lol. yeah, like he isn't reading every post.
As for my own personal note on this. I don't typically participate in these types of threads. The person just posted how they don't want to talk to you because a)they are too good for the forum now or b)feel mistreated somehow. If a) then good riddance and if it's b) is this the best way to deal with it? If you feel mistreated, let other people know and if the rest of the group agree they will get rid of the mistreaters and not the mistreated. I hardly think that the entire TA population ganged up on Jeff and caused him grief. The typical replies "Oh, please don't leave" or "Don't let all the assholes get to you" are pathetic at best.
Thought process of goodbye threads:
"Ooooh, someone said something mean to me. Someone is criticizing something I am doing. They all don't like me. Well, I don't like them either. I'm going to leave and then they will miss me. I am going to post a goodbye thread and see what everyone says about my leaving. Everyone better post that I don't leave....."
The part that you are getting wrong Jeff is the thought of "They don't like me". Just because someone criticizes something doesn't mean that they don't like you. In fact it shows that they care enough to tell you. Now I don't know who you are referring to when you say a "some people I could live without" but why put the people that you couldn't live without in a position to stroke your ego so you stay. You shouldn't have to do that to feel good about yourself.

It is a shame that you feel you need to maintain integrity based on comments on an online forum.
If anything, you are a much more active member of the clubbing/music community, and an active member of this online community to boot. So I'm not sure why you would want that.
As for the leaving, well I've never met you personally, and I've heard others speak of you in nothing but positive terms. The Sonic exposure you've brought to these boards was probably one of the strongest influences in me going there, so...I owe you one for that.

nonsense!
(and while he's not posting, I'm guessing he can still check this thread and send a PM reply if he wishes...but public support in this thread for him NOT to leave isn't such a bad thing, if it's just some small minority if people who feel that his presence conflicts with being a promoter).
Posted by Claude Hughes on Nov-21-2006 19:11:
first of all it makes no sense to even make a "public statement". you make it seem like you are a celebrity of some sort. just go on with your promoting and leave it at that. no need for this post. believe me, nobody here is going to be tossing & turning in bed tonight unable to sleep

i understand where he is coming from.
As i said before, it doesnt seem like very many people here want to support their own. Instead they actually go out of their way to become thread police and make life difficult for everyone. it's very sad but it's a fact. And it's why our scene will never have much impact on the world stage.

how do you explain hip hop then ? It's got massive appeal on the world stage and is full of internal as well as external conflict.
The 'scene' as you put it doesn't make an impact on the world stage because most people don't like electronic music. They don't value it as 'real music', they associate clubs as drug dens and clubbers as drugged out kids with nothing better to do on a friday then get smashed at a club for 12 hours stright. Negativity exists in every scene - hell, in some scenes, it's the negativity and beef that gives the scene its appeal.
If people don't police threads, soon you get assholes who start to rant everyday about topics that only matter to them. The right to free speech is a double edged sword.
Sometimes you just need to stand up and tell the other man to shut the fuck up!
