Maybe I'm just a retard.

it really could be anything to be honest, i was just trying to help the guy replicate the effect. no use chinstroking this because were all going to be wrong unless our names are barry jamieson or charlie may. ironically i doubt sasha even knows what hes doing.

I sure doubt he set it up himself. I have a friend who knows Barry, but I'm afraid to ask. Thats one of his best kept secrets afterall...without it hes just another ableton DJ...

I had to do a little man, its so long people get bored without some effects

Huge track tho...bassline is so massive.

Posted by jupiterone on Nov-22-2006 01:53:

you can actually get the same/better effect with a plugin called vMinion by Devine Machine Software.

Posted by ecksemmess on Nov-22-2006 02:54:

All he's doing is a half-bar stutter for two bars, with an upward Bandpass filter sweep on top of it.

No idea how you'd actually do that in ableton, but how hard could it be?

Posted by iammesol on Nov-22-2006 03:34:

^

in lamens terms, turn the delay on for 8 beats, put an EQ on the song, hit the bass kill and turn the knob that controls what frequency is the bass to the right

Posted by ecksemmess on Nov-22-2006 05:02:

Yeah however, the delay would have to be set to loop two beats with infinite feedback, 100% wet, and as for the filter, from the way iammesol is describing it, sounds to me like you'd have to turn the knob to the *left* to get the same effect as Sasha... but then I've never even used Ableton

Posted by Alex on Nov-22-2006 07:32:

Depending on the track, and the way you set your auto-filter, and how you set your "Simple Delay" you can make it do exactly that, also remember that each effect in Ableton becomes weaker in comparisson to the very first effect in your channel, so if you arrange them in different orders, change their settings, use them on certain tracks, the outcomes can very.

when you turn the knob to the right you tell Live that the higher frequencies are the bass, thus killing more than just the lows

Isn't that Digweeds favorite venue? Doesn't look at all special.

It's just a filter delay plug-in in Ableton Live

Man he loves that that thing!

His sets are filled with that effect, it does work well, but i think a more sparing use would be more effective.
