Stayed up all night with my buddies.

Drove over to Best Buy at 3:00AM.

Got on line (which already wrapped around 2 corners of the building - we were in the back - first people in line apparently started lining up at 4PM the day before... WTF?).

Left Best Buy at 5:30 (finished shopping).

Got to Circuit City.

Stayed in line for a loooong time.

Left.

IHOP.

Sleep.

$160 Leather Managers chair - $60 (after rebate, staples)
Magic markers (permanent) - Free, after clerk forgot to scan them. Stuck it to DA MAN!

Best buy had nothing decent left when I got there at 1pm. I wasn't interested in a 2GB Sansa MP3 player for $99, as I got a 40Giger iRiver already. Felt funny leaving the store not buying anything - I felt like I was sticking it to DA MAN ... AGAIN!

oh, and returned a $425 Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter synth to Guitar Center coz it was broken and I didn't feel like fixing it or listing it on ebay. Screwed DA MAN even further! (well... sort of)

It's the day after Thanksgiving and is the day Christmas shopping officially starts in the US. It's called Black Friday because it's the day companies get back into the black (profits, as opposed to red, which is losses). Not that most of these companies who do huge Black Friday sales were in the red anyhow.

BF is cheap deals for gifts your going to buy for your friends and family for the holidays. Other then that it is not that big of a deal unless you truly need the stuff they are selling.

Circuit City had a 250 GB external for $40. My girlfriend and I just stopped by Circuit City on my way to into the office (on a day we're closed) at 1 this afternoon. Just picked up a bunch of DVDs, Half-Life for the Xbox for $5, a 50 pack of DVD-Rs for $20 that will be FREE after rebate, a 1 GB Sandisk memory card for $2.99 after rebate ($30 before). Ended up spending a little over $100, $50 of which will be reimbursed by rebates, and I didn't really have to change my routine and since most of it was her stuff, she waited in line to pay while I went to work.

Also, I'd rather have Western Digital over I/O Magic. Past hands-on experience gives me this opinion.

pretty safe bet, with them printing out a 2-foot rebate forms that probably call for everything including your stool and urine sample, along with social security numbers of your unborn children, sent in an envelope no larger than 2"x1", and wait for 290309 days to get it. I'll still do it.

You've got it down to the word. I only end up getting half the MIR stuff I send in. Unless you read everything, you ain't getting your rebate on time. :/

Did your store also NOT have the scanners working? They were inputting every damn number by hand. And certain people had like 40 items (usually DVDs).

Also seems like they started up some newbies as Black Friday for day one. Eh?

thankfully everything was working properly, but the lines were nutz, worse then i have ever seen. well at least i didn't close and have to clean up that disaster

I bought about $180 worth of dvds/games/music for about $80 today. My BB owns because no one knew what was on-sale you had to research it on the net before hand to know what was on-sale. I just stroll in and grab what I want that I knew was cheap, granted I didn't get any big electronic device. My brother did go to wally world at 5am this morning and got a sweet deal on a digital camera/printer combo. Was $500 yesterday and he got it for $250 today.

I closed at Best Buy, wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but we started cleaning everything as the night wound down.

Working today wasn't nearly as bad as last year. There weren't too many pissy people that I had to deal with. The only problem was that literally every person in the store had a question. I'd have three or four people interrupting me while I was walking with a customer and trying to help them.

Assholes.
