I say it sounds like Scooter, cause it has that "Fuck the Millennium" sound written all over it and actually it gives space for HP vocals if you listen carefully.
And Scooter do it often to release a white label without HPs vocals for Promo (Club Mix).
Just a guess tho...

However...sounds bad to me.

Thrillseekers Ambient Mix

hardstyle-esque synthwork to Saltwater.

Posted by StanVoid on Nov-28-2006 19:08:

thrillseekers house mix all the way, but this kinda borrows ideas from that remix so ...

Look what you've done. You made Fred Baker cry. You fuck.

I find it hilariously ironic that you choose to say this about a remix of a track that is just a tranced up cover of an old Clannad track.

What a waste, what a shitty waste. How can you remix such a wonderful tune into this piece of crap???

Oh well, shit happens, life sucks and then you die.

is it really? I thought that Chicane only sampled the vocal from the original Clannad track & created everything else around it (i.e: what made that track great )

all the new mixes suck horribly ofcourse

I looked at someones avatar location and it said ireland. So now I feel like watching Boondock Saints.

Oh and this is a pointless release. Kinda like Cafe Del Mar.

You can say "what made the track great", but try taking the vocal out of that track.

I merely find it amusing that Spirit5 would choose a remix of a track built around a large sample to moan about a lack of originality in modern trance.

Guess the Tom Jones thing wasn't working out.

Posted by Minhaj on Dec-02-2006 14:59:

this remix is not by chicane

it sounds too tiestofied

Well besides the vocal parts, Chicane's track does also feature some subtle melodic elements from the Clannad track. The vocals weren't actually sampled but they were completely rerecorded in Chicane's studio and Maire resang them a bit differently from the original especially for Saltwater. So i wouldn't call it exactly a cover but it's more like "what would Theme From Harry's Game be like if it had been a trancer in the first place" compared to for example Pulp Victim - The World from '98 which just directly samples Maire's vocals from her old track Or instead of trying to be a cover version.

And yes, the 2006 mix sounds crap and it's not by Chicane. The remixer wants to remain anonymous, for now at least. The names behind these kind of anonymous remixes usually get out sooner or later.

According to TT this is
Chicane - Saltwater (2006 Cortech Remix)

Posted by Whirloop on Dec-02-2006 22:36:

at least the remix possess has the right pace!
this is better than some lame houseish asot-remix you could expect otherwise.

but the tune lacks feeling as probably mentioned before.
ugh always wanted to remix this tune myself but it takes guts to be able to make it worthy

how dare u.

this song sounds like shit, why ruin a classic...

Posted by Ray7455 on Dec-04-2006 04:18:

i hate when remixers attach years to the name, its incredibly pretentious, especially when its as bad as this. man, that part starting around 1:35 in the simple, there arent even words for that, comes outta nowhere
