From the start i was playing only videogames consoles (ZX Spectrum was a half computer). I can't play on PC at all, except Heroes Of Might & Magic. Even Japanese don't admit PC as game platform! And almost all my favorite genres games released only on consoles.

First shipment of NA was suppose to be 400,000 units (which even that wouldn't have reached demand.)

Nice. I read that someone hacked the PS3..but this is the first pic I've seen of someone w/ a BD-R!

It's actually not 'hacked,' those pics are from one of the lead programmers on Resistance: Fall of Man. Just before the game went gold.

I did read something about the System being cracked or almost being cracked.

Maybe it was through Yellow Dog or something..don't remember...or maybe that was the Wii. Too much video game info these past 2 weeks.

I said later you might get lucky to buy one in store. Since stores don't really know when there next shipment is exactly coming, they just put what they geto n their shelves. If they have some systems when you go in, your lucky.

Seriously all people that camped out made about 10 bucks an hour doing that. If you want a PS3 on Ebay u can get a 20gb for about 600- 700 bucks with overnight shipping for free. In all honesty what do you need 60gb of space for on a game console ? And the price won't be going back up really. Why because I did the same with XBOX 360's last year, so much hype too, but I only had to wait 10 hours in line to get some ( i got six and made about 350 dollars profit on each, so yeah that was totally worth it). But to camp out for 36 to 48 hours to get one or two to make about 400 bucks off it ? I think I'll pass. The key time to sell the PS3 was like in the first hour of release, when peole were dropping like 4gs on them, I wonder how dumb they feel now when they see the same ones going for like 1000 dollars what a week and half later ?

The thing is everyone bought the PS3 to make money off it. Only a few people actually got it for what it is. So now the market is flooded. And trust me before you know it they will be everywhere, I read somewhere that Sony plans on having close to a million units avaiable by Xmas.

What you said is true. However there still is some profit to be made on the units. And about Sony planning on releasing 1 million units...well thats what they say. But no one believes anymore.

1 Week before launch they said everything was on track to ship 400,000 units. And then like 3 days before the launch, they announced that they weren't even going to able to ship half of that!

We'll see though. But people camping in line just to sell it probably won't make too much money.

dont worry about what people do with their money. you have no idea about them.

you say parents go through hell to get their kids a ps3, but why do you think that. they could have higher disposable income, therefore $1000 is not hell, it's a walk in the park.

yes, material items are evil sometimes and rot ppl's brains. i agree with that.

but why dont you think about the other side of the story before you suggest them a vacation is better. you dont know these people, they may be getting their child a ps3 AND a vacation. spoiled yes, but that depends on who you compare with.

or how about this for argument sake, a kid can be entertained and satisfied with the ps3 all on their own. some parents may not have time to take 1 week off to go to europe. then again, why the fuck would a child want to go to europe. oh wait, im sure they want to look at 800 year old churches.

When I was a kid my brothers and I never asked for anything for Christmas, we knew we wouldn't get it. Oh, we'd get something, but never what we asked for. I think I learned something important with that. It drives me nuts seeing parents jump through hoops to get their kid something just because they want it. You can't always get what you want and you'll prossibly be a better person if you don't.

Actually "going through hell" doesn't mean having to spend a lot of money on something...with the so called shortages that are apparently happening with this thing...hell could also mean having to run around the city for days to get one.

And if you read my post I said that IN MY OPINION I would rather spend money on a vacation than on material things.

And in reference for a child going to Europe (or ANYWHERE in the world for that matter)...there are a lot more things to do on vacation then party. There's a thing called absorbing the culture. And FYI, when I went on vacations with my parents we did a mix of educational things and fun things and I quite enjoyed the educational things...but then again that is MY OPINION!

I am obsessed with the Wii, and I am NOT a gamer at all, I hate video games (well until the Wii came out). Chris and I have fought so much over video games, but with the Wii, it's like a middle ground in the "gaming world" between gamer boyfriends and girlfriends who hate games. Wii Sports FTW!!!

I know absolutely nothing about Linux, however are now running Yellow Dog Linux on there PS3 which apparently is a lot more stable then Fedora...

That's just what I've read..I have no idea what the difference is.


Linux is cool and all, but personally i don't see the need to have another "computer". I personally would want to keep the PS3 as a video/movie console and use my PC/Mac for all other stuff. But I guess having that option is pretty cool.

ahaha, you can't even possibly imagine to know 'for a fact'. What, do you work for Sony, I don't even think Sony employees can speak with such certainty as you do, yet you know the answers to all PS3 related sales/stock around the globe.

Okay. Your right, I don't know for a fact there sold out everywhere. But you know they have to be.

If stores who were promised to get systems at launch (Blockbuster/Rogers Video/smaller gaming stores as example) who sold pre-orders, were told they are not getting any systems until Spring...well then there's a definite shortage.

maybe you are right, but have you ever heard of 'market hype'. There are stock items out there...more than you can imagine, but there is hype. People talk about it, and even if you were not planning on purchasing one, you will. Sure helps Sony's year end revenue numbers.
