As to the list,..well you can't read the sheeps manual for idiocracy and expect to get all the latest in sheparding your loyal undergound following.

mate this is the 21st century get over vinyl, most dj's have and they only use it because its easier and you have alot more options on cd. im sure oakenfold could rock vinyl like no other back in the day, hes been in long enough to know how so who gives the fuck.

anyway oakenfold is a legend regardless of how shit he may be now, maybe lots will argue that hes pretty shit and always has been but by no means does he deserve to be in the worst 50 artists of all time, as an artist he has still had his moments.

OMG CDs INSTEAD OF VINYL???? Why would he do this?

Vinyl is so 4 years ago

Posted by jacklodestar on Dec-02-2006 17:41:

That's pretty fucking sad that some of you think vinyl is dead. Your right CD's are easier. I guess that's why I hear about so many new wannabe DJ's who sound like complete shit and have absolutely No musical skill whatsoever? The bottem line is vinyl is the domminant media for underground music,....I don't know how it is in your country but in mine it's almost impossible to find good underground tracks on CD's. Also I guess that's why we (Americans) invented turntablism and the Technics world championships are still using turntables instead of CDJ's to compete with huh?

same reason how europeans love to involve americans in every flame-bashing thread and blame americans for the problems of the world

Right, thats why you download tunes digitally. Oh, and how does using vinyl essentially give you musical skill?..

Guess why they're using turntables at turntablism championships, hmm...

your not making a great introduction here.
Also those championships are sponsored by technics so of course they will be mixing on technics you idiot and they use vinyl for scratching people that scratch probably wont ever give up on vinyl but most people have we all want vinyl to last forever but sadly it wont.

Posted by jacklodestar on Dec-02-2006 20:43:

Yeah ok whatever,...it obviously hasn't occured to you that I'm a turntablist but reguardless everyone is entitled to they're opinions. I don't judge or frown upon others for their opions however my opinion is that it does require more skill to effectively blend and segue using turntables. I've been a member of this site since 2002 by the way,....I had to get a different name because I just spent the last year and a half in Iraq and we couldn't use the internet at my base (Camp Slayer). If you look back at my post you'll see I didn't say oakey sucked in fact he still uses vinyl on some of his CD's i.e. Voyage Into Trance, however I just saw him recently in October or late september (I don't remember exactly what date right now) in Norfolk and noticed he was only using CD's and was playing commercial shit I don't care much for. I actually praised him for his ability to spin considering the fact he has a disability. Your responses let me know you haven't had the oppertunity to meet him on a interpersonal level as I did to know that he's dyslexic and shares some of my opinions including the one I stated reguarding using digital media instead of vinyl.

well of course it didnt occure to me that your a turntablist i dont read your posts and think 'oh god he must be a turntablist' how am i supposed to know.
Your opinion is kind of one sided though towards vinyl if a dj in a club plays on cd and plays an amazing set i dont think many people in the club would give a damn what he used to play the music. People dont look at someone using cd decks and think oh god that looked easy boooooo play some vinyl.

Posted by jacklodestar on Dec-02-2006 21:20:

Alright I'll admit I'm biased towards CD's and in favor of vinyl reguardless of the argument. Your also right about the fact that people don't care what type of media you use in a club. That is disappointing to me as my love for vinyl runs deep and sometimes drives me to make an ass of myself in debates. I have seen people boo CD/mp3 DJ's at raves and underground events. What i've seen more so is people who become less interested because the magic of seeing a DJ use vinyl and watching the needle in the groove is gone when you use CD's. I don't go to clubs but maybe once or twice a year and I only go to see my favorite dj's like oakey and others. Therefore I don't keep up with what goes on at clubs so I'm sure you know more than I do about the club standard and how a club crowd reacts. I do however go to raves every week and throw them myself a few times a year so I can speak for what I know about the rave scene in the U.S.

I dont think people even know what the hell he does behind there or what a transition is

Posted by jacklodestar on Dec-02-2006 21:31:

Some do and some don't,...a lot of people that attend my raves and the raves I've been to are dj's themselves or have dated dj's or just plain respect and understand the art so there are people out there who get it. U.S. ravers are a different breed of party kid and for the most part like to understand whats going on behind the decks.

i think thats the problem most people dont even know what a dj does so how can anyone expect them to appreciate a dj using vinyl.

Posted by GoSpeedGo! on Dec-02-2006 21:49:

Vinyl is overrated. Move on.

Posted by sleepydragon on Dec-02-2006 21:51:

i wouldnt say over rated but the world has moved on now things are going digital.

Posted by jupiterone on Dec-02-2006 21:59:

Half the people that I know, that know I DJ, whenever im doing a radio show or gig they're like "OH CAN I CALL IN? WHATS THE NUMBER?!"...

Pretty damn annoying but hey, we live in a pretty damn ignorant world and as for me, I live in a state infested with crap music and crap people.

Yeah, but just look hows the guy defending it. Theres the needle and all the magic - of course there is some spirit around it and I wont deny it, but it has nothing to do with that round black thing that keeps rotating on the deck. Its where it all started and its quite logical that some people think its something that should never be abandoned.

Yea, and also found an alternative that really lets the DJ get more creative WITH the music, such as ableton.

Oh you should give them at least a shout-out in your radio show, looks like its a trend these days; Ive heard Armins doing that in every single ASOT
