Vinyl is so 4 years ago
That's pretty fucking sad that some of you think vinyl is dead. Your right CD's are easier. I guess that's why I hear about so many new wannabe DJ's who sound like complete shit and have absolutely No musical skill whatsoever? The bottem line is vinyl is the domminant media for underground music,....I don't know how it is in your country but in mine it's almost impossible to find good underground tracks on CD's. Also I guess that's why we (Americans) invented turntablism and the Technics world championships are still using turntables instead of CDJ's to compete with huh?

Yeah ok whatever,...it obviously hasn't occured to you that I'm a turntablist but reguardless everyone is entitled to they're opinions. I don't judge or frown upon others for their opions however my opinion is that it does require more skill to effectively blend and segue using turntables. I've been a member of this site since 2002 by the way,....I had to get a different name because I just spent the last year and a half in Iraq and we couldn't use the internet at my base (Camp Slayer). If you look back at my post you'll see I didn't say oakey sucked in fact he still uses vinyl on some of his CD's i.e. Voyage Into Trance, however I just saw him recently in October or late september (I don't remember exactly what date right now) in Norfolk and noticed he was only using CD's and was playing commercial shit I don't care much for. I actually praised him for his ability to spin considering the fact he has a disability. Your responses let me know you haven't had the oppertunity to meet him on a interpersonal level as I did to know that he's dyslexic and shares some of my opinions including the one I stated reguarding using digital media instead of vinyl.

Alright I'll admit I'm biased towards CD's and in favor of vinyl reguardless of the argument. Your also right about the fact that people don't care what type of media you use in a club. That is disappointing to me as my love for vinyl runs deep and sometimes drives me to make an ass of myself in debates. I have seen people boo CD/mp3 DJ's at raves and underground events. What i've seen more so is people who become less interested because the magic of seeing a DJ use vinyl and watching the needle in the groove is gone when you use CD's. I don't go to clubs but maybe once or twice a year and I only go to see my favorite dj's like oakey and others. Therefore I don't keep up with what goes on at clubs so I'm sure you know more than I do about the club standard and how a club crowd reacts. I do however go to raves every week and throw them myself a few times a year so I can speak for what I know about the rave scene in the U.S.

Your opinion is kind of one sided though towards vinyl if a dj in a club plays on cd and plays an amazing set i dont think many people in the club would give a damn what he used to play the music. People dont look at someone using cd decks and think oh good that looked easy boooooo play some vinyl. |
Some do and some don't,...a lot of people that attend my raves and the raves I've been to are dj's themselves or have dated dj's or just plain respect and understand the art so there are people out there who get it. U.S. ravers are a different breed of party kid and for the most part like to understand whats going on behind the decks.
