I

And yeah, get a job and pay for your own gear. It's much more rewarding. By the way, don't expect to make DJ'ing a career. The chances of that happening are incredibly slim.
THROAT PUNCH!
It's not that hard to save the money guy. My brother just turned 16 and bought his own decks with money he'd been saving for a few months. He literally just saved every single dollar he'd ever received. It was creepy but it paid off.
Geez, you bums are so condescending...
Some advice for our student dj with turntables in their eyes: Youl appreciate your stuff more if you pay for it yourself, and that way no one can tell you how to use it either. Keep in mind that good tables+needles+a mixer is expensive, and if you buy it new your gonna have to pay out of your ass for it.
Get stuff used first off, and that way, when you do eventually get good shit, youl appreciate how well it all works much better!
Buy good used stuff. IMO, you're too young and have too little expendable cash for large scale purchases about something you may not be entirely sure of yet. I'm sure your parents are thinking the same. The things I was into 10 years ago have changed quite a bit.

did your parents split up because you nagged them for money all the time?

well, everyone has a different situation...but if you want those decks bad enough you'll work hard for them
show your parents you're serious by working for them, and then maybe they might negotiate splitting the cost 50/50 with you (but don't expect them to). just move your arse and get to it!

or you could try this
"WOW DAD TEXT BOOKS ARE EXPENSIVE THIS YEAR! 1000 dollars! and then you need to buy the cd siwth them as well they cost about 500 dollars"
"I NEED TO PAY FOR A TUTOR!"
there you go.. you could buy a shit load now. Just do well in school or your parents will never trust you again.
email your dad and tell him he has inherited a billion dollars from a nigerian relative.
my parents are odd...
They do support what I do, even though they say they don't like it (mostly my dad). Which still means they don't pay for any of my stuff... I've had a job since the day I turned 15 to pay for all of my stuff. Not everyone has it great in life (money wise) and when people do, and still bitch, it pisses me off.

weed doesn't make you money fast. coke is where it is at.
get a job like everyone else and buy it yourself.
i was 15 and worked full time at a supermarket to get my first setup rolling, don't see how you can't do that and your 18?
my parents wouldnt buy my stuff either. But if i wanted to take guitar or piano lessons they would buy it for me. parents are just prejudiced against djs.
Just call the police and tell them your parents molested you.
its a scary thoguht that your parents dont want to drop 3 grand on dj equipment for you. i mean honestly what were they thinking? how are they teaching you to be responsible when they wont just give you whatever you want.
fuck when i have kids and if they come up and ask me to buy them 3 grand worth of hobby equipment, they would be peeling potatoes in bootcamp until they are 30....
i hate whiny kids....
get a fuckin job, buy your own decks, then realize you suck without the auto beat match button on traktor, then you give up, your 3 grand is now wasted as a giant pile of expensive dust collectors. and you live the rest of your life as a loser.....
