Yes the ban wasn't supposed to be permanent, but as you can all see, it was conveniently forgotten. Swept under the rug, never to be mentioned again.

Of course Nou the person can come back here if he really wanted to (don't kid yourself). But I don't think that the screenname Nou is ever going to post here again.

In the 2 and a half years I've been posting here, he's contributed absolutely nothing.

Regardless, in normal society if someone "stops contributing," we don't usually just give someone a free ride because they have contributed in the past.

I'm not saying he should get a free ride because of his past contributions, I'm simply saying that claiming his entire existence on TA has been worthless is incorrect. *shrug*

Im still torn. I think he deserves to be banned now but not perma banned. Nou isnt quite a Radagast and while he is often annoying and overtly self-centered, he can still make worthy contributions around here. I also dont think hes done anything worthy of a perma ban yet...Id like to hear what the worst transgression was.

The rules are, if you act like a twat, you get banned. I think the rules has been more or less failry applied over the years. It usually takes something major to ennvoke a perma-ban...whats the justification here?

The justification would probably an overall dislike by the mods/admins, I guess. He had a second chance after the whole huge issue, but cloning enferno was probably the last straw. I can imagine that when he's unbanned, Swamper & Co. are bombarded by requests to ban him not only from the general community (who seem to forget that there's an ignore feature), but by the mods themselves. I think Swamper is just fed up with dealing with it and decided to put an end to it.

From what I know of what I have seen him do...

He made a lot of threads concerning his real life, most of them about this one particular girl he was having a hard time garnering the romantic interest of.

He posted in a lot of war-related threads, bringing very unpopular but not necessarily uninformed opinions to a board that is usually devoid of most historical enlightenment.

He was really into anime and shared his love of hentai with everyone - and so was shunned because he had an uncommon obsession? I am sure there are people here with much stranger fetishes they've not shared with anyone - you know who you are.

A lot of people liked to hate on him because of his lifestyle and viewpoint though - he was certainly popular (notorious?) around here, but if he didn't do any actual harm to anyone and actually brought his own perspective to these boards (which is something very few people actually do) then I see no reason for him to stay banned.

It sounds like he was given several chances though and the mods were on their last straw having to deal with him - in which case, it is their prerogative to do what they feel they must, but I don't understand why someone should stay banned just because people don't like him. I am sure there is something I am missing though...
