i understand he wasn't thinking right, but honestly, how much does it take to go:

As soon as you throw poo it becomes 'debris'. It's like when a building blows up & bricks fly everwhere; the bricks become debris! So i'd say that the old man was poo shooting old western cowboy styles, when he shot a high speed poo out of his bum, knocked over the mountain of jarred pooh, hense blocking his exit route & getting him trapped.
