The technical definition of racism is the belief that one race is superior to another. But I think most people use the word meaning dislike of another based on their physical characterists. That's the definition I use.

Everybody's racist. You want to be with your own kind. Look at the racial demographics of the population. You will see white people living with white people, black people living with black people, hispanics... etc etc. It's a perfectly normal characterist to want be with like minded similar people. And race is the most obvious similarity we as people find.

I believe the media and my experiences have made me racist more than I wish to be. As the thread starter said, I wouldn't think twice about a white person walking by me late at night, but a black person -- definitely. Why? Because any time I've ever seen a black person out walking, they've always got hoods up and they look like they're ready to mug you. Is the white person probably a serial killer and the black guys just having a good time? Probably!

But uh... you watch certain movies and you'll definitely find yourself being influenced. Movies like American History X, Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society... they painted a bleak picture of the black culture.

And honestly, for two years at my old job (working at BB as the store manager) the only persons I ever caught stealing were black. You know, one incident can really just change your perspective on things, even if it's something minor. I caught a black guy stealing, and he was with a group of friends, and I just calmy went over to him and asked him if he was going to pay for it, and he starts dropping F bombs at me. The lady at the counter with her daughter told him to watch his language and he turns to her and says, "Oh, I apologize mam" and then turns back to me and starts dropping the "Fuck you man" again. And it's like, I didn't do anything -- in fact, my CSR (customer service representive, basically, my cashier) working that day WAS black, and I hired her, and I had another insanely prejudice employee who routinely dropped the N-word out loud, and that offended me greatly, just because I thought it was incredibly rude and stupid to talk like that. But you know what, he treated that black employee with the utmost respect... so what I'm saying is... it's definitely on a per-person basis. Kind of like, most old white guys who uh, have that 'look', are commonly judged to be pedophiles, you know? Hell, anyone who watches Family Guy knows what I'm talking about, it's a damn stereotype that's alive and well. And the same goes for the black wanna-be gangsters.

And the media isn't really helping me out either.

Check out that interview. This black professor (ex prof. that is) gets on C-Span or some news channel and starts talking about exterminating white people. What the fuck? So Fox News asks this member of the "New Black Panther Party" to have an interview on Fox News. The guy says okay, and he basically condones the professor's choice of words ("exterminate white people") It was horrifically shocking to me. Because... okay, you just know that some white people are thinking the same thing about black people, but they aren't on the news saying that -- there would be HELL if that happened. But vice versa... it's the same deal with channels like BET -- where's the White Entertainment Television channel? (I'm not asking for it -- but I'm saying, if someone tried to make it... there would be an uproar.)

In my experience, the black culture (or what would be referred to as "African Americans", which is a dumb-as-hell term) is continually trying to separate themselves from us "white folks." They want their own entertainment, their own music, their own cities -- and for them, every white person is racist, even when that's hardly the case. They IMPOSE the "you're racist" label on the white people they see. FUCK that.

And as far as somolians and muslims (yes I realize one is a race and the other is a religion) go... don't get me started. There's so much bullshit in the media. That whole uproar with the 6 muslims (imams) removed from the plane. The way they are spinning that to make it look like they were 'racially profiled' and targetted makes me absolutely sick. I fear people that "look" poor, which can include people of any race. I guess it's because poor people commit more crimes per capita, but still kind of irrational, since statistically speaking any person you encounter is more likely to be law-abiding than not.

i'm probably one of the biggest racist i know..

I also get this weird feeling of "not knowing how to act" around black people (yeah, stupid), since there were basically no black people at all where I grew up. But whether I'm actually afraid of them depends on whether they look poor.

here's my problem with this whole deal

when black people (funny how some people use african-americans as the blanket term...not all black people are decendents from africa n00b) are wearing clothes that can be associated with mainstream rap music, what the hell am i supposed to think?
granted these people may have worn this style of clothing before, but just as if i wear women's pants a thin little scarf and eye-liner some people will call me a fag (lol i don't, just an example), if someone's wearing shit just like i'm seeing in rap videos where people are talking about killing people and robbing them and assaulting women...well what the fuck am i supposed to think?

Am I racist? Well I'd have say I'm a bit, I have friends who are from each and every ethnicity though.

I suppose it's how you take banter, for an example one of my mates Ryan is black and his a good sprinter, when we were kids I remember he was bragging how fast he could run, so I said 'Ryan the only the reason your so fast is because your ancestors got chased by lions' or 'the police' I don't see that as being racist.

My mate Jason is Indian and went back to the fatherland recently. So I reminded him Sahira law isn't applicable in the UK and if his wife ends up being a cheating sult he can't stone her to death in streets.

I've been born and bred in a multi cultural area each of us give one another banter. If people can't fucking take it then it's politcal correctness gone mad as far as I'm concerned.
