-- soooooooooo what happened to all the GOOD trance??
Pages (3): « 1 [2] 3 »
There is still good trance around. Every year I list my top 20 tracks of the year, and most of the time a lot of trance releases end up on my list. I was looking at 2003, 2004, 2005 and what I had listed so far for 2006 and I realized that the best trance on those 4 lists was in 2003, after that the lists get less trance oriented, more trance-prog. Yes my tastes are changing but not enough to discard and have good epic trance eclipse any other genre for me. GOOD trance is just generally harder to find now. I agree... But it's still out there.
Guys Guys, taste might change, so does music.
Trance changes to something else, trance of 90's is not trance in 2000's until now, it just changes, as their artists change and all...
it's like always, there is a wave, and you ride on it, and it breaks. you can look back and listen to these songs, but this wave will not be there again.
the wind of change that is :-)
*hugs*

Yeah, but it always gets a reaction.
I've been known to start this topic on occasion for just that reason.

[Sorry.]
I start good topics, too, though.

Yeah, that seems to catch people's eye pretty well, too.
As I far as Paul van Dyk goes, I still play his first Politics of Dancing, but can't stand to even listen half way through the second one.
The same for Max Graham, I still can't get enough of Transport 4 while his newer mixed and productions pale in comparison.

| Originally posted by Cobalt Trance has been dead since 2002. Sadly, this is something that any new listener to the genre must come to grips with. Progressive used to be a viable alternative, but it shed what was left of its tranciness in 2005, with all the "electro" shenanigans. There are a few patches of progressive left here and there, like the stuff Satoshi Tomiie is spinning as of late. Today's techno, especially from Cologne and Canada, sounds closer to trance than anything now sold under that genre. For example: Tom Pooks - Pablo Assan's Mathew Jonson - Marionette |
in 2010 people will be saying they just dont make em like they did in 2006.
its still there - whether u want serious trance, uplifting stuff or whatever - i repeat - its still there.
it died, just like midget pron
tiesto ate it all.

Trance will only be dead when there is no one producing it and we have a ways to go before that.
On a personal note, if you are fond of EDM and think there is not original, quality trance being produced (including all sub genre's) then I suggest you do some research with your ears.
Psytrance is where it's at.
I Think Spaniard Has A Very Good Point
And S3nate Where Does Some1 That Knows Nothing About Psytrance Start sifting though the %99.9 of Dead PsyTrance That Is Around To Find The Very Few Good 1s?

i just got into the trance/ambient music scene myself but it seems that now young entrepenures are finding it easy to make music all you need is a synthesyzer and a good program and someone will produce you. there are some young cats out there who can hold there own but they're smart and haven't went mainstream many others just want the money and synonomity of being a DJ.
