get your money on france now as they have possibly the best attacking side! probably the best midfield too! the only bad point is that they have a goalie called barthez apart from that they have the best chance me got my money on them!

ITALIA! THey have just been holding it off for too long...this year they've got it..for sure!

haha....no way!! Always the bridesmaid ...never the bride. It's the fate of the AZZURi to never win the most glamorous trophy of all. But I will say that they will be once again...the best dressed team of the tournament.

Hehe, quite true but azzurri won 3 times and are always there ... time for a poker!

France, Argentina, Italy or England if they got their act togther and not field players like the Nevilles.

As much as the Spanish have a brilliant team, I can't see Spain doing that much damage every year everyone has high expectations of them because they cain through the qualification rounds, in the tournaments themself its usually a different story.

My dark horses for the tournament are Ireland and I'm not being biased at all here, Robbie Keane excellent forward creative and he's a good finisher, plus he came back from injury, Roy Keane injured right now but will be ready for the world cup excellent defensive midfielder, and Damien Duff watch this player he put Denmark through hell a few weeks ago, they will fuck up card wise though because they play a hard and agressive game.

And guys please don't call it soccer call it football I loathe the word soccer.

shame stephen carr has a fucked up knee eh?

Posted by LiquidX on Apr-07-2002 05:52:

MmmmMMMmm I hate to say this but I think Argentina is doing veeeeeeeeery goood, I mean, on the qualifications, they were by faaaaaaaar better then Brazil, are on top, and all, they are playing pretty good, and to me they may win the cup as I see them, if not Italy, maybe England, or even one of the african nations as mentioned, Nigeria or Cameroon, but really, I would like to see a new team win, maybe a team that may surprise everyone else, like someone said, anybody but argentina, buuuut, I have to be honest, they are doing goood...

hehe...yeah..I realized after that I forgot to mention that they have in fact won 3 times....but don't worry, it won't happen again--> Their winning the cup that is....

Haha! We'll see!

Well Ste Carr is an excellent right back and it is a shame he can't play, though Gary Kelly I'm sure will do well in his place, he's a good player Kelly, we've got Harte on the left who's excellent, only problem with Eire is central defence O'Brien who plays for NEwcastle is ok but Stauntons getting on a bit now, and I think the two of them aren't bad players, but thats the weakness, once someone gets past Keane and Kinsella we're fucked especially if its someone like Henry, or someone creative like Totti I think Harte and Kelly will end up doing a lot of work for them two, but Givens a good goalie so it should be ok.

Arrow

As of now I'm liking Italy, Argentina, Portugal, or Denmark

Italy's always a team to watch out for, although I hope they don't win.

England vs Argentina will be a good game but I don't think England can beat them this year

Portugal just because they've come back from not qualifying in '98 and look solid.

Denmark looks alright if they can make it past France.

I'd really like to see Ireland win although their chances are pretty slim

Who will NOT win this year: Brazil, France, England and all of the other crap teams like USA, Japan, etc

There are some real interesting groupings so it'll be interesting...can't wait!

Posted by OLi_A on Apr-10-2002 06:47:

i wanna see spain do well but i think argentina is the side to beat
maybe germany will surprise us but i doubt it.
as for england i hate them
so its out of france argentina portugal and uruguay
because you know your team is class if they can beat australia (which france couldnt do)

Posted by vito on Apr-13-2002 00:27:

ireland will win, w/out a doubt
btw for those that dont know holland are out cus of ireland, ireland finished level with portugal in the qualifying stage, above holland, so dont underestimate the irish.
but i cant believe some of you are seriously listing ENGLAND as having a chance at winning LOL not a f**cking chance, knocked out in group stages
portugal, good side and i like them
italians, i dont think so, they always disappoint me with poor performances and the brazilians have really gone down hill since '94.
i dont like the french. and sadly the german national team is no longer what it once was. the spainish side always overrated, but i think they have the best euro league.
the argentinians could have a chance, maybe.
if the french are as strong as they say, i cant think of a team that actually can take them...except maybe portugal, that'd b a good match.

anyway im really looking forward to it (the matches are on at 7am over here)

Posted by PacMan on Apr-13-2002 23:51:

Portugal got a good chance as always. They still got Xavier in the defence? if soo them strikers will be afraid very afraid!

Tho the winners this year i think will be Argentina

Posted by soylent green on Apr-14-2002 01:53:

hey this is a long shot, but i want them to win

slovenia (betcha haven't heard of them)

i think they'll at least make it past the round robin
(which doesn't say much, but at least they're there at the world cup)

Posted by yahel222 on Apr-18-2002 16:16:

well although they're in bed shape - BRAZIL will suprise everyone and win the world cup
Argentina, Italy & France have good chances too

Posted by RenderedDream on Apr-25-2002 16:42:

I bet your asses that Portugal will win it! This time i hope there will no referees saving others teams like in Portugal - France in Euro 2000 that time i couldn't see any french or else.... this, we will be paying referees for saving us

Posted by JHN416 on Apr-26-2002 15:31:

Brazil has it easy for the first round

Brazil is in a nice group...although I don't think they can match up if they play Argentina or Italy.

Posted by bassaholix on May-01-2002 00:55:

Hello! THis is what me thinks... LOL

Argentina can kick ass, anyones ass right now...

England could be a good match for the final

African, dark horse me thinks

France could prove a worthy adversary as well...

Brazil... sorry they aren't looking very good... but then again who knows..

I would like to see Portugal champion, and we would deserve it, but I don't think we will. I'm seeing Argentina or Italy more likely to be champions.

Posted by raver31 on May-10-2002 02:56:

polska will.

Posted by Mirv0 on May-16-2002 15:11:

Argentina have a really strong team

Posted by JakubPolska on May-27-2002 00:46:

Well I believe in Poland, someone even called us the dark horse of the tournament, not sure on watch channel in tv I heard that, but whatever. Yeah I`m hopin they can win this, I mean we suck rite now, but in games with no importance we always do, so yeah Go Poland.
And off topic Go Leafs Go
