Haven't set foot in any of their stores since watching that film.

I used to work at Walmart. Or Cultmart as I like to call it. That was the worst 6 months of my life, easily...and I'm pretty sure they have a piece of my soul.

Used to work at Wal-Mart in a management position. They are a sinister company portraying themselves as a 'family and community oriented company'.
Let me tell you they are anything but. They destroy families by forcing people to work long hours even on statutory holidays.
They try to get rid of employees who are legitimatly on WSIB. (I've been told by senior management there to try to get rid of so and so and document his every move.)
They pay wages that NO family could possibly live on. (Family and community oriented?)
They destroy companies that do pay a decent wage because they can't compete with 'Slave-Mart'.
If you legally vote in a union they close down the store.
They collect personal information on their employees (who they date, what they're like, etc) to use in case a union does try to get in the store. (Seperate, divide, conquer.)
Their number one logo for employee's : "Respect for the individual." A complete farce, brainwash, propaganda or whatever you want to call it.
Wal-Mart is pure evil.

fucking right. Good to see some people are enlightened enough to know what's up with Walmart.

Unfortunately, they do good enough business to stay operating in Canada and in Europe. I don't mean to offend anyone, but go into a Walmart one time and just LOOK at the people who shop there! Usually uneducated trailer trash or mothers with their ten kids trailing along who don't know the difference between left and right wing politics, let alone the evils of the Walmart corporation.

ok well explain your arrogance comment. Come on, it's a good distraction from my final essay that I just don't want to write right now....help me procrastinate!

Posted by Jayx1 on Dec-17-2006 00:06:

well the assesment of those who shop at walmart is a bit condescending.

I may have my arguements but i never resort to name calling. Unless of course, leftwing loonie or liberal counts LOL!!

anyways im off to work

Posted by Orbitus on Dec-17-2006 00:08:

+1.

Let's hear an explanation. I've worked there long enough in a management position to know all the ins and outs.

"Let's get it on".

(edit) Oops, one post too late..

that could be just London's Walmarts though. But seriously, the clientelle at the Walmart in my neighbourhood (a new subdivision but mostly blue collar in the extreme east end) wasn't exactly stellar.

I only ever used to buy DVD's at Walmart since they were, to be honest, a bit cheaper. Not now though...I'll pay the extra dollar at Best Buy.

Posted by Orbitus on Dec-17-2006 00:18:

Don't buy your DVD's from Wal-Mart unless you want them edited for families.
It is a little known fact that DVD's come in multiple versions. Some unedited and others edited for 'family oriented' companies.
I'll give you an example. Buy 'Platoon' from Wal-Mart and you'll find a nasty rape scene edited out. But it from HMV, Best Buy or most other music stores and your DVD's won't be edited.
This is just one example that I have first hand evidence of.
Once again I used to work there.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Dec-17-2006 07:19:

isn't that kind of illegal? I'm sure Oliver Stone wouldn't be happy to know that his Oscar winning movie was being edited to make it more "family oriented". The fucking rating should denote whether it's family oriented or not. What rape scene though...are you sure your'e not thinking of Casualties of War with Michael J. Fox? Or wait...the little girl. I remember now.
