| Originally posted by ambs i can't... it's not my place to elaborate... but space has a lot of politics... if you might remember up until a year ago, they didnt even want to BOOK armin in the first place... also, some of the DJs who were key players in making space legendary for trance, etc don't play there anymore... I'd say this can tell you enough about the politics and games space and LP play |
Wooh now that i've recovered a proper review can be written
:
First of all I have to give a BIG thankyou to DAster for picking me up and taking me to Space (even though you were sitting there in your own living hell the entire time LOL) Also it was great meeting som of you FLTAs, what a friendly and fun bunch to party with!
Venue - Beautiful venue and the sound system is SO GOOD, bass rumbled perfectly
Crowd - Shit, I guess I had higher expectations(?) but then again it was an 18 and over night. Noone seemed to be there for the music, but there to be seen and get as fucked up as possible and make out with the guy with super gelled up hair nearest you. It was so packed we couldn't even dance
Definitly killed my mood.
Oscar G - He's a good DJ....an excellent DJ in fact, and I'm a fan of le prog but FOR GOD'S SAKES MIX IT UP A LITTLE BIT! Throwing in one mild tribal track every now and then is NOT what we call variety Oscar. I was enjoying his set at first but after awhile the monotoneous prog house got boring.
Sharam - Typical Deep Dish style to be an hour and a half late (maybe it was an hour but honestly I gave up on time after awhile). He started off with a very poppish song and didn't seem to be going anywhere from there, we left probably about two songs into his set....the vibe and sardine effect were too much.
I'm sure club Space is a fun place to be when it's not so crowded, but i'll definitely be focusing on other ways to have fun in Miami during my stay here
i feel bad for you folks that actually went to see him in the mainroom, ive said it a million times, they are terrace dj's!!!! ive given them too many chances in the main room, and its no different whether its sharam or ali....we woke up at 5 and drove down, got there for the last 20 mins of his mainroom set, and it sucked ass! like i said, shortly thereafter he came upstairs, started his set at 7 am...fucking insane!
started off to get it going with deep breath/sedna mashup and the nitrous blew off right away, place went bonkers, a sure signal that he would be rocking it proper in the sunshine, and although for a little there was still the weird crowd u all were speaking of, they dont hang past 8 so then it was left to us music heads and of course the typical terrace freaks, they keep the place going....tunes were going crazy, dropped many atracks form dubai including
16 Bit Lolitas Vs. Motorcycle Deep Breath Sedna (Dave Dresden Mash-up)
Spider & Legaz - Psych
DYAD10 - Sugar (Sweet Thing) (Nicka & Alse Remix)
Pete Heller Presents Timewarp - Timewarp
Sultan & Ned Shepard feat. Stereomovers - Connected (Spider & Legaz Remix)- this was one of the tracks i was hoping to hear and it went off witha great success, energy was unreal
he played the sickest remix of an oldies track...the drifters- save the last dance for me! proof that anything with a 4/4 will go off on the terrace
Sharam- PATT!!
Flashdance accapella thrown in somewhere as well
and then he closed the set down with one of the best tracks on the cd, and i will admit i think its great although its made by someone i dont like at all, but its a good prog effort from the guy...
Armin van Buuren feat. Nadia Ali - Who is Watching
reaction was ace, people were all smiling jumping happy it was right as the overcast went away and the sun started to shine! about 10 am or so, by far an amazing 3 hrs of music out there. then ivano then qba, then i look at my watch and its 2:30 pm and the place is still going strong, so once again, if u want to hear dope tunes from dd or any dj who plays both rooms, dont be a pussy make it upstairs

i got to talk with him a lil after the set and i thought he would be one of those dick im too cool dj's, but he was very nice, he said the oldies track was a bootleg they did, and asking him about spider and legaz, whom are like 4 tracks off his cd, he said they just signed them and to watch out there are many productions from these guys coming, which by the ones on his cd they are all dope

Well me personally I do not like the terrace for numerous reason, but people have different taste. I like the terrace at night, or just when Oakie came or PvD at night that one time. But at 8am
I feel like I shouldnt be there around that time, and 3 experiences and im still not use to it...
I think it was a pretty good night, Sharam is a stand up dude, and plays what you want to hear on ocassion
. It was a pretty decent night for me considering I was really tired and I left at 530a. I really liked that first tune he played "Sugar (Sweet Thing)(T. Remix)"once he came on in the main room.
As far as OG goes, I really like him a bit more than CG, just for the fact CG electrofries my Brain after an hour or so. OG plays a bit different almost every other Sat, many tunes are still there considering he does do 10hr sets
But the voices are always there, but he does switch it up every other Sat like all the other residents as well...If they wouldnt many people would be bored at this point seeing them...
True, my preference is dirty electro house so the terrace feels right at home for me. QBA has really impressed me, wish he would spin longer than an hour or two... and Ivano always brings it.
OG's style is great if i'm drunk tho
