jacked from the Tribe review thread (if it's taboo to link/quote, let me know and I'll delete this)

Jeremy Jive posted a couple of pics that are hosted on his site. LOL @ Graham

He also has this to say in the Tribe review thread:

quote:
Last night was truely epic. I don't know what to say really. When the bar is plenty full at 11PM you know it's going to be a big night. At dinner I was telling Kaskade that the night was going to be something special. I don't think he really believed me though.... (it exceeded anything I imagined.) He was curious to see the reaction to the sound he had in mind for the night.

There was something electric in the air all night long. The crowd was taking to everything and not just one style. It didn't matter if it was drums, synths, vocals, electro or deep. Everyone was waving their hands in the air, screaming and smiling all night long. The crowd was just hoping all over the place. Hats off to the club for the decor, having the ceiling snowing all night really made it look magical from the booth.

I can happily and easily say that out of all the nights, all the cities and clubs I've ever played, last night holds the biggest spot in my heart and will always be the benchmark. Thank you to everyone that came out. So good to see so many faces that I haven't seen in a while. It reminds me of why I love the music so much and why I can never walk away. Honestly I had goosebumps for hours just watching people while I played and having Kaskade there beside me. A dream come true. Thank you to Footwork and all the people behind the scene who helped make this possible. It was an honour to play with Kaskade and I can't really ever put in words how much it meant to me and how I owe you.

Walking around the club, a lot of people commented that they were suprised by what Kaskade was playing and they were loving every minute of it. He did an amazing job of playing some good hard dirty house mixed with some classic house and playing some of his own productions. Honestly the whole set was perfect but the last hour to hour and a half were beyond words. When he dropped 'Love Mysterious' he nearly tore the roof off and luckily I have it all on video for anyone who wants to see it. I wish I had recorded it.

On the way to the airport this afternoon, Kaskade said was he really couldn't get over the quality of the club and the night and how blown away he was. That is a big heartfelt thank you to everyone from Kaskade and just be happy knowing that you have left a big mark on him and he loved you for it.

Btw, it's going to happen again I promise that.

hmmmm

It was a bit. I won't lie.

BUT and here lies the big difference, the 'cheese' was welcome, even by a filth-loving whore like me because the tracklist was well thought out, the remixes of the 'cheese' had a beautiful bass layer of electro interjected through them and in all honesty, they were 'real' tunes. Tracks with meanings that we associate with other times/places/people.

I didn't stop dancing once. Not once.

Party of the year for me I think. Fabulous, studied, choreographed tunes. Almost all of my closest friends. And some of the best energy I have ever felt in this city.

Period.

For the record, ya, I agree it was a fair comment...

I promote fridays for This is London... and i also promote events at Footwork. They are two different types of clubs, who for the most part cater to a different clientele. Though there is obviously some crossover.

and I can tell you that the most of the DJs that have come through London have had a fantastic time. I can also tell you that being staff, I am into the music, and the 100+ people that come in on my list every week are also their for the music.

You don't like the club, you've made it clear in your 1800 posts on TA and tribe on the subject... everyone gets it... you can stop being such a debbie downer now.

that being said, had a FANTASTIC time at footwork as usual! Defintely wasn't expecting to be hearing and electro house from Kaskade... worked nicely though. but i still hate put your hands up for detroit no matter what.

BETTER THAN I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED!

I have been driving my friends crazy for the past 6 months about Kascade this and Kaskade that... My friends never heard of Kaskade and just blew off my comments... Well... They had one of the best nights ever last night, I was blown away as well.

I know that Kaskade made a lot of new fans last night. The venue was excellent, the crowd was phenomenal!

I was very fortunate to meet Kaskade last night. He is warm, he is humble and he really enjoys what he does. Thank you so much Daniel and Stefan for giving me the opportunity to meet and take pics with Kaskade (his name is RYAN).

I discovered the music of Kascade about 9 months ago, thru XM RADIO... on their BPM station... 24 hour commercial-free dance on Channel 81. I became an instant fan when I heard BE STILL and would call in to request the song daily... The song hit #1 on their charts very quickly and stayed there for about 12 weeks. The radio edit is a bit different from the recording on the CD. I have also heard his guest mix spots on XM RADIO on Saturday nights.

Last nights Kaskade performance was probably the best one i have heard so far... (heard 3 recorded mix sets).
Thank you Kaskade for making my birthday one i wont forget for a very long time to come. Stefan you have an amazing club and one that i will frequent more often.
To the crowd, glad you were able to share this experience! I didnt hear one negative comment all night long.

Kaskade, i hope you will return to TORONTO, in early 2007. I know that i will be there to support you and i know many who read this or who attended FOOTWORK last night will be there as well.

I'll make my point as many times as I feel like.
And in this case, my point was actually that footwork is just head and shoulders above other venues in this city. And this is not because of the music - it's because of the staff, the way you are treated from the time you ask the promoter for guest list (you might want to take a few pointers in that regard), to the wait in line, the bartenders, every person at footwork really just seems to be there to make your night a good one.

This would be more correct.

Just because you think Footwork is the best venue in the city, doesn't mean it is the best venue in the city. Obviously people disagree with you.

Posted by Skipper on Dec-18-2006 03:27:

Oh really? I hadn't noticed.

But I'm not the only one who has taken note or been taken by surprise at how footwork has sort of stood out in recent months compared to other venues and other parties.

Graham, everything everyone says is in their own opinion. That's a given. If you're above the age of 5 you don't need that spelled out...I hope.

Posted by English Rachel on Dec-18-2006 03:31:

Ok, back to the point in question.

KASKADE ROCKED FOOTWORK!!!!!!

I am so glad I was fortunate enough to be here. Stephan, let's see some bookings that we would be surprised to see and I promise we will support you in any way that we can. You deserve our energy and attendance.

Hmm...I don't even know how to put in to words how I feel about last night. It was one of the most amazing nights I have ever had.

The vibe in there was just phenomenal. The people at Footwork did an amazing job. The place looked great and everything ran so smoothly.

Jeremy Jive had me from the second I walked in. He really got everyone in the right mood!

After hearing Jeffrey go on and on about Kaskade I was really looking forward to hearing him. I never imagined he could kill me the way he did though. I couldn't stop jumping and moving...my legs were screaming this morning.

Thank you to everyone that was out last night. Everyone had a smile on their face the entire night and I loved every second of it.

All in all...a night I will never forget.

Posted by Jeremy Jive on Dec-18-2006 03:34:

It took me almost three hours to remember my password for TA. Thanks to the other poster for putting up my review. I also posted up some videos of the night that I took. Here they are.

For anyone that didn't get to be there or anyone who wonders what the feeling was like in the booth all night, I loaded up some videos on youtube that I took with The Watcher's camera.

Enjoy!

Kaskade playing the title track to the tour

The crowd goes bananas for Music Sounds Better With You

Kaskade playing

I also wanted to say a big heartfelt thank you to everyone from TA that came out and all the kind words in the reviews. Last night was a reminder to me and my heart of why I love the music so much and what it is all about. It's about the thrill and joy of playing music I love and seeing a sea of faces on people who are enjoying it as much. Being able to express yourself through music is something that only a few get to experience and it's bliss.

It's not about playing music for yourself, it's really about playing your music to the people of the night. I'm still grinning ear to ear and can't wait to do it again.

Thank you once again, I can't say it enough.

These videos send shivers down my spine..... (and make certain chest-appendages go hard...)

So much so that the double post doesn't even phase me....!!!!!

If you're above the age of 5, you realize that the way you say things has an affect on how people perceive the message you're trying to convey.

Easy with the attitude.

That was awesome! Wow, the crowd really ate that up. I know I would have. That was one of the first dance songs I ever liked.

Congrats on playing Sat. night. While I didn't introduce myself, I did make a point to go up front and get a good look at ya, to put a face to the infamous name. Kept a low profile, as no glowsticks could be found in the place, and we woulda had to battle. Saturday night woulda been perfect for a TA vs Tribe lightshow battleground.

I kid. (besides, u easily would've beat me)

Typical Graham, always in the middle with his arms up.

I hope everyone who was out Sat. night comes out to this, cuz we were such the perfect group. Lord knows most of us are old enough for to remember the "oldies". Dec. 26th- be there please!!!

And 1 more thing about the club...

Did anyone catch the ~only~ bottle service group in the corner? The way they were roped off in the corner made them look like they were being punished and made to keep away from the crowd, and it looked ridiculous (so much so I laughed). I was actually shocked to see bottle service there- FW just doesn't seem like the place for it. I hope it doesn't become more popular there, tho. Keep it real, FW.

Imo, it beats any other club in TO hands down.

I had a realy unexpected extremely mental good time for Jeffrey's birthday. I am not a fan of Footwork's set up either and Kaskade I thought was going to be loungey and boring.

Everything was the opposite and more, the tunes were positive commercial house with a super duper unsketchy, happy unfucked up crowd. That was extremely refreshing.

I danced my ass off and left on my own will before everyone because I was spent, which is party career first.

Hats off to Rachel for her organizing.

We were the perfect group! There was a whole spectrum of ethnicities, backgrounds, tastes and sexual orientation - a perfect mix!

Be there or be [ ]!!
