lol jules? papa as in smurfie?

HAHAHAHHA @ how times change.

I prefer listening to tough & driving tech-trance or hard trance when im out.
There isnt really anyone else who plays the style i like except perhaps Charlie Z & Smurfie.
Strangis is alright as well, but i prefer when he bangs it out with more bass.
lol

Charlie Z one of the best, heard him play alot and its always
pumping.

i think we're lucky in melbourne to have a few good trance dj's. sometimes they dont always get the recognition they deserve. they are all slightly different and offer there own unique sound.

perhaps some of us are kind of over TA being used as a tool by a bunch of look-alikes to promote themselves ad nauseum. whats so damned special about any of us?

simple canadians totally missing the point. youre one of the only people with an ego big enough to have an issue about that.

exactly. "residing" being the operative word. doesnt make me tasmanian and even if it did its still better than being a kiwi.

Argh. Why always nasty comments. This thread is suggesting, not stating that Mike Nichol is Australia's best trance DJ. JayKay has offered his opinion based on his experiences and is asking for thoughts.

Although I have not heard every trance DJ in Melbourne (most) or Australia. Mike Nichol is the best 'local' trance dj I have seen for that particular genre. Ie. Trance is a little too broad these days, I would call his style banging uplifting 140+ bpm trance. Certainly my favourite local dj at the moment!

I first heard Mike play at a very small gig in Melbourne sometime last year. I walked into this place and could not believe my ears. Not to mention what I was seeing on the mixer. Also heard him play at 2 recent Interview gigs. In particular Tilt Bar. (Does anyone have that set on mp3!!!???)

Technically awesome. Clean changes/transitions, minimal sound overlap/clashing, smashes the mix in your face, always leaves you hanging for the next mix. Seems to be able to mix anything, ie, banging new trance with really old tunes and makes it sound good, drops the classics at the right time. Produces his own thumping tunes to compliment his style and make the set his own. Definately underated. Keep it pumping Mike!

Whoops. When I said 'that particular genre' I meant that style/category of trance. Sure you's know what i mean :-)

Australia's best * TRANCE * Dj?

Good heavens. Perhaps you should explore the country a little more before making obscene comments.

Posted by vman83 on Dec-20-2006 02:03:

well it does state trance

which then puts him in a small handfull

Heidi, i think in general tho he is being compared to those who produce as well

yah, but its also his "I'm such a great dj so my opinion is worth more than yours" attitude.
Had he not said that this would probably have been a thread with valid discussion, but when people start throwing around comments like that you just look like a twat.

Hehe Go Mr Nichol, great bloke and talented behind the decks. I'm a big fan. Prob agree he's the best Trance DJ in Oz.
