to be over the limit you have to be pretty drunk, meaning you "cant see straight".

but you could get your car impounded if an officer decides that you are not capable of driving properly even if you are below the limit.

its a 24h license suspension

wow, i cant believe that you just said that....

if you are tipsy then it is not safe for you to drive.

period.

dont even try to argue that because if you do then you will just make yourself look dumb.

listen judge jury and executioner

since when did the term TIPPSY translate to drunk and unable to drive safelty

but thats beside the point

someone who is over .08 could be far safer behind the wheel than someone that isnt. THats the point im trying to make!

i never said 'tipsy' meant drunk. there is a vast difference between the two but being tipsy does mean your motor skills are impaired (ie. hand/eye coordination and the like).

it may not be illegal to drive while you are tipsy as you may not get charged with impaired driving but it still is not safe to get behind the wheel.

All i wanted to know was what time RIDE shifts are over at

I dont condone driving home drunk
I think its terrible to put an innocent persons life at risk.
I also am a firm supporter of LADD.

It's good though, a lot of hit and runs this yr.

I think that's a greta thing - seeing as I just got out a relationship with a jerk that would drink and drive and he drives a bloody truck for a living! Last Friday, there was a ride program across the street from my work, thankfully they were there b/c I needed the police to assist me with a ISSUE at my work! so I crossed the street and grabbed the cutest police officer I think, hehehehee

anyways I am all for the RIDE programs and I think they should be out in full freakin' force all year round... I know they are, but you certainly see them a lot more when the holiday season comes around!

You'd be surprised... "over the limit" happens way before "cant see straight"

Posted by Wurm on Dec-20-2006 02:13:

Worm Popper

Around these parts, I always run into them on the way home from work. Always between 4pm and 6pm! I never think it's wise to hassle them, but I never see them out at say 8pm, 10pm, or Heaven forfend, midnight, when there's a greater likelihood of catching impaired drivers. For some reason, I think they do it when it's convenient for their shift.

you should wait at least an hour after having a beer at least!

or you should just not drive if you are drinking!

You have like 6,8, or 10 beers throughout the night (or the equivalent in hard liquor) and you're gonna need way more than 30 mins after the club to pass a Breathalyzer test I'd imagine.

With all this talk, I was actually afraid to have a drink at my friends house tonight (something I've never been worried about before). What is the legal limit here anyways?
In DC its ZERO tolerance (meaning not even a glass of wine w/dinner).

Posted by Yuri on Dec-20-2006 04:41:

The police quota is due by January, this is why there are so many speed traps around this time (Just noticed someone posted the same thing above... not editing shit, fuck off). I got pulled over the other day doing 94 in a 60.. luckly I got away with 5 over.

Quota is crap,I can't believe it even exists.

i don't know the official limit but from what i know it's 0.08. To compare i had 3 or 4 drinks once and got pulled over. I blew 0.06... It depends on many other factors. Someone can get trashed of 2 drinks.

Posted by Fir3start3r on Dec-20-2006 06:06:

If I remember right, I think your liver can process one glass of wine an hour? (something like that).

If you're going to drink, make sure you cab it home or drink early and coast the rest of the night (my normal practice).
But the time you want to go home, you should be well into the sober end of the scale.
If you're not sure, don't risk it! Cab it or get a ride from a friend!

[edit] or have a sober friend drive your car for you.
