There is a really useful tool that all uber-l337 pros use; its called google

DVD Shrink is free software, and can be easily found to dl. AnyDvd and the other software pieces mentioned are available for purchase, but can be found otherwise, as with any other piece of software.

If any of you want to go the legit way, there are also a plethora of utilities available for decoding the raw data on a DVD disc and encoding it again onto a backup, but that is a bit more involved of a process.

I've only met Sarah once actually.

And all those "things" you speak of Dan...I didn't have anything to do with. That was all my brothers doing.

I love how hard you guys try to come off that you would never do ANYTHING illegal, like piracy, or... drugs.

Posted by urban_legend on Dec-29-2006 19:37:

I use DVD X Copy, its older software but works great!!! I bought it when it wasnt illegal.

what bothers me is that so many people are clueless to the fact it is illegal....and see nothing wrong with what they are doing.

I see your point to an extent. I don't feel sorry for all those whiney show biz people who are richer than they should be. I do burn dvds and some Cd's but they are big names that I do it to, I still buy about 75-100 Cd's and Dvd's a year and they are the little guys and the up and comers.

urban legend has a point, big actors and production companies making millions don't get hurt by it. its the small timers that i support that get hurt by piracy.
ya its illegal but so is speeding, littering, j-walking and smoking joints.

Smoking Joints is illegal?

What I mentioned were legitimate reasons on how one can get away with burning a backup DVD. It is not illegal to burn backups.

However, like you stated, i'd say maybe 1%, if not less of the people who burn DVDs use it just for legitimate backup purposes...

but there are some honest ppl out there!

or, because I already purchased a copy of it, spend $1 for a CD, and burn it
Hey, have you ever downloaded a song? I'm betting to guess you've not paid for every single song you've downloaded OMG! lol

you are right the big companies don't get hurt by it but you, me, and every other person who buys them legally does. One of the biggest reasons we see costs of these increase or stay as high as they are is because people steal the CDs and DVDs....so really, you are taking the money out of my pocket....so I think you better pay up.

Hahha, nah, all things considered, it's funny to see people take the moral high ground when it comes to piracy.

Posted by co_dorin on Dec-30-2006 04:11:

copying dvds

best way for me is to use these programs
dvd css + region
Magic dvd ripper
power iso(or nero)

dvd region free removes protection plus lets you play dvd from around the world.and it runns in the background

use magic dvd ripper and make an image of the dvd (or choose to split to 2 dvd or only main movie).i find u get a better rip if u rip by image not by files too. mind u i burn about 100 dvds a month.

use power iso or nero or any good image burning software to burn image to dvd.. and take dvd out and enjoy the video..

anyone wants about a folder of about 200 dvd abd burning software with cracks and serial spls msg me [email protected]

I'm soooo staying out of this catty thread, lol, other than to say that drugs and music piracy are *very* bad comparisons, even ignoring the spinoff effects of pricing and all of that.

when you d/l a song w/o paying for it, you're essentially refusing to pay someone who SHOULD be getting paid for it (the artist, their distribution company, etc).

when you buy pills, k, pot, etc. from a dealer, you're not circumventing some legal avenue to obtaining those drugs elsewhere since they're illegal in the first place.

both illegal...but far from the same scenario (even from a moral standpoint).

burning movies.

i am mostly sure there i s some of you out there who download movies mainly for personaal use.... i do... i don not sell. i would never sell unless u ask for a movie from me. when i do sell i will ask liek $1 a dvd (50 cents a dvd and for eqipment) i don't make moneyy of it. i don't care if it is illeagal or not. jsut like some of you who grow your own herbs.. mostly for peronal use...

Posted by locodawg on Dec-31-2006 06:13:

I make backups for one reason ... if someone ask "Can I please borrow that cd/dvd" I give them my back up.... so many times ppl have lost my dvds or cds, I understand shit happens...but some ppl just don't take care of other ppls stuff as they do with there own stuff ...

so I rather let them borrow the back up ...
