Funny how his death coincides with US network television prime time...

What better time to coerce the nation into declaring a Bush victory. lol. Convenient, no?

Posted by Yohan on Dec-30-2006 05:22:

Well, I for one, won't miss him.

Yes, because how else can you have a hangin' party if it's 2am in the morning...I mean...the nerve of such a thought!

Good riddance to bad garbage.

indeed.

how many people died as a result of the illegal invasion of the sovereign nation of Iraq?

Posted by MKpacha on Dec-30-2006 06:58:

i for one think that hanging him was the wrong idea.... especially filming it for a live broadcast.... this only makes him a marter/ jesus figure... look at the havoc he is causing in his own country at home. A wiser idea would have been to have kept him locked up and tortured him for the rest of his life physically and mentally to make him feel the suffering he brought on to others... as well im sure he has so much info in terrorism and such they could milk some things out of him

I was thinking the exact same thing. He must know at least some useful information that could be used. I also agree that keeping him alive and making him live his punishment would be a much better idea. He got off way too easy.

LOL. Seems every topic about Iraq brings out a comment similar to this one.

Yep. Personally I find filming of executions to be quite unethical, not to mention distasteful in general.

Torturing a bad guy just puts us in same page as bad guy.

We lose the moral war, once we stoop to using tactics that the bad guys use.

The US and the Iraqi authorities had Saddam for years. I dunno if Saddam can tell any more useful information, considering that rise of insurgents and Al Qaeda involvement in Iraq is more of a recent thing, and there are other prisoners who probably has better, and more recent intel.

You're forgetting one important aspect though; this was an Iraqi trail under Iraqi law, not Western law...

I was referring to use of torture to punish Saddam.

seriously, this shit will never end.

there isen't much to say really, our world is filled with tyrants, and it'll remain so.

live your life and ignore this bs, cause sadly, we're not evolving anytime soon.

sigh...sometimes it's mindboggling how fucked up humans are, at this age.

Absolutism, tyranny and dictatorship have always been prevalent in human history in one form or another.

It's just people throw a bit more hissy fit nowadays. (And still don't do much about it)

let me rephrase.
it's mindboggling to see how more and more fucked up we're becoming, as time goes by.

Since the execution already took place, i still think he shouldn't have been hung!
But to milk some terrorism info out of him??? Do you even know how, or by who these plots are initiated?.

Posted by smak on Dec-30-2006 15:07:

Saddam in his mind thought he was righteous in everything he did, that it was indeed God's will for whatever he did. He truly was a sick man in the mind.

His execution was justice. He is responsible for around 2 million dead souls.
At the same time, I am not happy with the US intrusion, because that fueled an extra couple of 100 of thousands more.
Civil War
Lawlessness, there is just because of a few frakked up people, it takes only one bomb to kill like 20.

Saddam had a bad childhood they say. His father beat him a lot, probably that's where he got his tyranny from.

But I can never forget that;

His troops killed my kindergarden teacher. She was a freedom fighter.

Posted by daves on Dec-30-2006 15:11:

Saddam has very little to do with the chaos going on in Iraq right now... what you're seeing is exactly what was expected would come of an Iraq that was stripped of an iron-fisted secular rule without a strong enough power base installed to hold the religiously ambitious at bay.

there are people in the world who figured this entire scenario out beforehand... too bad the authors of it didn't see similarly.
