am i the only one who dislikes ground n pound bouts? i see myself getting bored watching a lot of UFC.
was also watching the Ultimate Fighter show, and they had Jorge Gurgel, who is supposed to be a brazillian jujutsu blackbelt, and he's from brazil. so he knows his grappling. also, about 4 years of muay thai fighting. he fought Jason von Flue, who is a "freestyle fighter". according to Matt Hughes, von Flue's team coach, he was technically the worst on the team. i thought i would at least get to see a guy get very stylistically pwnd.
they beat the hell out of eachother, yes, but it was also just ground n pound. Gurgel tried a couple of moves, but he wasn't even able to beat von Flue on the ground
it was just an exchange of blows basically. aren't these guys world class? i've seen some stuff that is better from non-professional fighters in MMA gyms, or even in TMA schools.

I want to see Liddell fight Emelianenko.

| Originally posted by Vlad If you want to see good shit, watch Pride Fighting with Fedor Emelianenko. The last time this guy lost is 2000. He is without a doubt the top MMA heavyweight in the world. He is a three time World Sambo Champion, the 2002 World Combat Sambo heavyweight champion, the 2002 World Combat Sambo open-weight champion, 2002 Russian Combat Sambo Champion and the 2005 World Combat Sambo heavyweight champion. He was also the RINGS: King of Kings 2001 heavyweight tournament champion, the RINGS: King of Kings 2002 open-weight tournament champion and the PRIDE 2004 World Grand Prix Champion. I also like Andre Arlovksi from UFC, guy is just nasty. |

The one thing that makes Fedor the best in the world is how good and accurate his punches are (as well as kicks)... and how incredibly awesome his is in the grapple and on the ground.
I would love to see all the top UFC fighters fight him, just to see the separation in skill... Arlovski, Liddell, Ortiz, etc... cause hes already beaten all the top fighters in Pride.
just finished watching the Ortiz vs Lidell match. pretty good, but i think Ortiz could have done some stuff to better his chances. WHY NO FAKING? fake a punch, go the other way, punch. or fake a punch to get the guard up, go for a body kick. i see Ortiz going for hich kicks right off the bat, as openers. surprises me in such a big UFC match, where most MMA guys say kicking sucks, blah blah, high kicking is useless, bla bla (tell that to Aerts), but hell, not even in TKD tournaments do you commonly see a head kick used as an opener.
round 3, about 14 mins in, on the google vid, when Tito's on the ground, he was in prime position to use his heels on Lidell's stomach. i dunno why i don't see more shots in that area with the feet. a well placed heel kick can end a match. sure, he couldn't generate much strike force in that position, but hell, he could have at least pushed Lidell the fuck off. i mean, with the physical condition he has, pushing 200 some pounds off should be no problem. (btw, why do they have such skinny legs? looks funny on their bodies
) as someone posted about Gono Akihiro, i checked him out, and he just proves my point:
and that spinning back kick wasn't even that hard. great spin, but he didn't even go for full leg extension. just look at the face of Salaverry, that shit hurt.

| Originally posted by Inertia according to his original Sambo instructor, what made Fedor so dangerous wasn't his skill. he says he had no real talent for grappling. it was his basically indomitable will and heart when he got down to fighting. he wouldn't stop at all. i guess this is what that dedication has translated into. |
You would think a big guy like this, against a small guy would stand a chance, or atleast more than 5 seconds.
I love the chatter

fedor vs hunt
ho lee sheet. that's what i call getting PWNT.
here's another one i like:
This is what happens when you dont respect Fedor and not shake his hand at the start of a match - and try to act like a big shot.
fuck i order pride shockwave and ive already find the links for all the fights.
Ok... uh... yea, this guy, he's... um... dangerous.
The other crazy ruski pride fighter I love.

Just saw the fight and I must say that Tito did a great job, but I still cant help being really disappointed. I really wanted him to win and I think he deserves his title back.
How long will it take for him to get another title shot do you reckon?
while i think Tito put up a nice fight, i think he still had a long way to go in terms of being able to beat Chuck
