I completely disagree with these statements...next to Addy, Mark is one of the Toronto djs that has significantly disappointed me on one too many occasions.

I don't know how people still complain about mark's music at Guv...that guy has been the resident for 10 years now...he must be doing something right...just because he does not play a full 9 hours of trance anymore you go out and bash him...

exactly. when you're playing such a long set to such a diverse crowd, he needs to mix it up to keep everyone happy. the man is a genius when it comes to pleasing the crowd. ive seen him play countless numbers of times and i gotta give him credit when credit is due.

im not saying that you have to like every dj on the planet but your bitterness about everything is getting kind of tiresome.

guv last night SYDNEY BLU WOW... NATHAN $#@%$% BARATO.. DOUBLE WOW!! just fkn slammin fantasic.. I got there late after Liberty Grand which I might add was MEH... the djs in the house room werent bad.. they played a signature ADDY song.. Chicaron.. which was nuts.. lol... but overall.. enjoyed my time in the drink... cant stress that enough.. and Mark Oliver was playing some good choons.. to be completely honest though I will probably re-think what I do for new years next year long and hard before I make my final decision... this year was so last minute.. next year hopefully will be better.. i think Sydney and Nathan saved the night 4 me.. hahaha... had my dancin' shoes on all morning long in the drink... could not stand to make it 2 zone.. sobs .. until.. 2nite... or next year..

ps. jay great seeing you last night finally got to wish you a happy belated birthday as I wasnt out the night before.. and Ben+twin bro.. and whoever else... did not see that many ppl at guvvy last night .. that partially made it a little crappy.. and i guess the stupid confrontation at the coat check line.. lmao..

As if, Jason. I'm not bitter at all...I think I'm too positive . Those are TWO deejays that I don't like...that doesn't come close to qualifying as 'everything.'

Wow, what a night! So many friends, beautiful people and the best night club in Canada.

Mark Oliver rules as a DJ. He knows how to cater to the crowd and just think about playing for 12 hours....you can't please everybody all the time.
Not to mention there is a certain amount of responsibility that goes with DJ'ing. If you played hardcore trance or techno all night you run a real risk of killing people through exhaustion, overheating, dehydration, heart attack and loss of bodily salts. You know everybody in these places is on something and people in this state don't listen to there bodies warning signals and could quite literally dance themselves to death.
A club has a responsibilty to slow things down once in a while so people can rest, cool down and recuperate.

Happy new year everyone.

I was there to hear Nathan spin in the drink but they kept on shifting him around, so i had no choice. I chilled in the guv for for abit drinking with friends. Who says I keep on going to Guv anyhow??

I undertand if you dont like what he does..people are entitled to their opinion..but going on a public message board and saying that mark needs to learn what tracks to play after another when he has been dj'ing for way over 20 years just doesnt make any sense to me m8!

I know that some poeple will come on here and attack me now for my post..but that's fine! I'm ready for it!

Not only talking about type of music being played, but the mixing and the track selection could be wayyyyyyyyy better....Funny how you think a dj makes the venue...

Does anyone know what song MO played after Murder was the bass>Red blue purple? and there were vocals going 'play my music'

Just wondering, what happened to the complimentary breakfast? or was that suppose to be like at 8-9 am?

is it Music Loud by Tocadisco?

They said on Breakfast Television this morning that two people were shot outside of Guv yesterday. Anyone know anything about this?

It says it was after 3a.m. this morning, which by the date of the newscast, January 2, means that it is not even Club related. just random people walking around maybe.

I thought he was above that. Other then that i think he is a great dj. Up Untill 12 he was playing sick sick prog, and after later at night he goes back to prog as well which is cool ... (im talking about the 30th not 31st)

Oh that's nothing new, MO usually plays mainstream tracks in the begining . Imo it's totally reasonble since before 2 there's a diffrent crowd as well as diffrent mood.

If you notice he usually aims to some sorta subgenre and as the nite progresses he makes it more and more intense.

He has off nites but overall I love and respect what he does.

Posted by Abercrombie on Jan-02-2007 22:17:

MO's warmups are always mainstream, or just pre-mainstream. He has a knack for picking up the next big hits, and warms ppl up with them. Gets them on the dancefloor, and especially... into the mood! There's no one who can read a crowd better than Mark, he's watching you.

those that don't like his style or are stuck in strictly one genre of music better stay away...and to the bedroom d.js that try to pin point every single mistake a d.j makes,( And trust me I've heard plenty from the likes of P.V.D, Lawler and even Zabiela): STAY IN THE BEDROOM PLEASE!
