E3 still technically exists, it's just not the behemoth it used to be.

No, I wasn't aware....not to mention, I don't even know where to get compressed PSX games. I think someone named Dark Alex made that custom firmware 3.03 though, right? He's mentioned a lot on http://pspupdates.qj.net/

yup, it's all with dark alex's shit. qj.net is a kickass site yo. check out.. i think the proggie is called popstation? and when they say compressed i'm assuming it's iso's or bins/cues in zip format. dunno for sure though, like i said i had to sell my psp

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jan-16-2007 01:09:

3.03 has been out for alittle bit now - allows you to emulate a bunch of firmwares while playing even the latest umds like mgs

Actually, to be completely honest, I was looking at a bunch of the games released for PSP so far and I'm interested in getting a whole bunch of their retro releases, and even a couple of the newer ones. Best of Capcom, Gradius collection, etc. There's also that blob game that looks pretty kickass. Unfortunately, my time spent playing games has dropped to the point where I really can't justify dropping 200 bucks on a handheld system... I'll just wait until no one wants PSP anymore and I can find it used for 70 bucks, lol.

its a pretty good deal if you take advantage of the whole homebrew scene as well. i used to have one, but like you, i just didnt have the time to use it. i thought it'd be better to sell it while it still had good value...but the more i think of it, the more i regret it. any time nyce posts yet another badass 007 gadget stunt that his psp can somehow do, i just get that much more regretful.

lol dont worry i've stopped fucking around with my psp - i'm caught up in snowboarding even though i bring the psp with me on my trips, just not enough time to read and start some homebrewing.

last i read was the firmware emu for 3.03 to play the later UMDs, custom backgrounds on 1.5, font and icon pack releases.

i was fuxoring with my sling box player but i don't think it's possible. someone mentioned orb as a site-portal to my sling app but i have yet to try it. plus the degradation must be horrible if i'm using a site to sling my box then my wifi to hit the site...video might suck at that rate since there are too many connections involved that might degrade an a/v stream.

i know the psp2 is gonna be cock-diesel-with-dildo's-comin-out-it's-ass for sure lol - rumored to run new samsung mini lcd's, 30-60gb hard drive, with an efficient power management system to govern the unit. wouldn't be surprised if they throw a sliding qwerty keyboard (ALA UMPC - UX series) behind the lcd/back half portion of the psp. it'll get alittle more depth if they throw a hds on it so that'll allow for screen slide, hd space, and power management system.

expect it to be as thick as our normal PSP with the MGS extra-armor on it.

I'm not really interested in any of the other multimedia gimmicks in the machine. When I buy a gaming system, I buy it exclusively for gaming. That being said, the PSP has some pretty cool looking games, and it's easier to run ROMs on the PSP than the DS.

This PSP2 def. has my attention now. And agreed with what Conner said. Taking advantage of the homebrew scene makes it worth owning even if you don't plan on buying any of the regular UMD games.

I wanna get Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and I still need GTA: Vice City Stories!

it's only a gimmick if you don't care to use it

its like not having laces for your sneakers..all you care about is wearing them on your feet not lacing them up so lose the laces right

psp has some capabilities that you see people purchasing full devices for, all in 1 machine. good example is a gps, people buy $400+ garmin gps's, i paid 200 for my gaming machine and i can possibly use it as a gps. ... these damn gimmicks are worthless =P

some of the rom and pc ports to my psp actually look 100x better than it did on its original system or emulated on a computer and LCD to tell you the truth lol

In other PSP news, it seems Sony is planning on making a Memory Stick duo that will hold up to 32GB of data.

2009...that's only two years from now...we should still get some decent sized MSDs until the 32GB comes out.

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Feb-05-2007 15:07:

^SSD's will get there before the MSP or any cards simply because of the built in USB connector associated with SSD. Thats the only problem with memory cards is that they have their own proprietory connector (SD, MSP, CF, etc) where SSD can connect to any USB slot
