Maybe at that particular store... the list price is $150 and most stores are selling it for $100 or less because it's a discontinued model. You're far better off with the K240S (the "industry standard"), it has better frequency response and will last longer, but is the same design in most other respects. What's more, it sells for about the same price - it's $100 at zzounds. |

| Hi Steve, we ship internationally via Parcelforce and the price would be an astonishing 55GBP. This service takes usually 7 days. http://www.audioproducts.com.au/brands/akg.html are the Australian distributor for AKG, with our shipping costs in mind it may be cheaper buy there. That's about $140 shipping. That's nuts!
Customs wouldn't matter as you can get upto $1000 without paying any fees.
Sweet, sending emails really pays off!
There's a store in Sydney which will sell them to me for $220 and I can pick them up so there are no other fees.
I also got an email from a Melbourne based company that have a warehouse here but I can't pick them up. They would need to ship them which adds an extra $11. I asked them if they can beat the other stores price so maybe they might. I could get away with $200 possibly.
I'm quite happy though. Both are based here so incase there are any warranty issues, it will be easy to get them handled as opposed to shipping the headphones back overseas.
And $220 is the cheapest I could find overseas anyway (US$169 including delivery)
The only bad thing is I haven't listened to them yet, but I haven't seen anyone say anything bad about their sound, only a few reviews saying that some models broke easily. Oh well, I can always listen to them at that store and if I hate them, just not buy them.
Cheers for the help guys. I should have a shiny new set of K240S by the end of the week for a reasonable price. Considering that they retail at up to $350 here, $220 is rather good in my books
I'm still waiting for my pair from ebay... maybe this week sometime.
Don't worry, you'll be happy with the K240S assuming you're actually looking for a studio monitor - it's the industry standard for a reason, it's pretty much the most accurate you can get in that price range (even in higher price ranges).
Now, it's not going to make bad music sound good, but I figure you want it to make bad music sound bad - that's the point of studio cans.
Congratulations on finding a decent price - that's only slightly above the MSRP so it's not terrible.
Absolutely, I need them to monitor until I get proper monitors, and then after that to be a secondary source for monitoring.
Oh, and I got them lowered to $210. I'm going to go pick them up on friday
Got these yesterday. Great sound, and I can finally hear how shit my old tracks are in terms of sound quality
Cheers for the help guys
