Nothing would have been different if she was old enough

I'm finding this hard to believe. How can you be arrested for something that you might not have even been aware of? What a load of shit.

One of my friends is 21. He was arrested as well...I'm not sure what happened to him. They can throw you in the drunk tank if they feel like it, 21 or not.

Best idea, EVER.

Just because a law is a law, it shouldn't be assumed that it is completely right and purposeful. I don't like the idea of abiding to a law just because it has been passed by a panel of old men. When you follow blindly, you become an inactive citizen and your government then has the power to abuse your passiveness. There is always room for improvement.

You're very right, there is a loooooooooot of room for improvement, anywhere. But it is the law, and for now go by it. Are you telling me just because the drinking age is 21+ doesn't mean it's right? I'd rather be following the law rather then end up getting ticket after ticket, but if that's your way of protesting, you go girl!

Fuck that. I stayed with an American family of one of my friends a few years back. It was full of cliches and unnecessary enthusiasm - I honestly could not have lasted more than the 3 days that I did. It was just the way they had to make comments on everything.

Example - I came down one morning and got a glass of orange juice, and some gimp sitting at the table goes "WOO-HAY! GOOD CALL ON THE ORANGE JUICE!" I don't need that shit when I've just woken up.

Bullshit laws, bullshit government, bullshit annoyances.

[/Daily America rant]

You can do or say what you like. Just as I will openly cringe at somebody finding something about as funny as AIDS so hilarious. Little things impress little minds as they say.

They don't put people in the drunk tank just because "they feel like it". Sure, a lot of cops abuse their power, but throwing a person in the drunk tank is usually for their own good. If you show contempt for the law, whether you think what they're doing is fair or not, they're gonna fuck with you. Any idiot knows that.

I've had many run-ins with police, but since I wasn't a jackass in dealing with them, I never had any problems.

I dunno, looking at things like "girls gone wild", and numerous other drunk college slut scenarios, it's clear to me that underage America needs laws like this.

What did Coup say to Echoes the other day? Something about wanting to live in her world with chocolate streets and cream clouds or something? Anyway, yeah.

I think you need to re-read what I said RIGHT after that.

Respect is universal concept. In this case, we're talking about respect for the law.

Posted by Vivid Boy on Jan-06-2007 18:03:

haha that wouldnt happen in toronto. ud get beat down with billy clubs for saving ur friends life while drunk, but theyd never bring u to a detox. theyd just give u a high five

So we should respect George W. Bush and his decisions JUST BECAUSE he is the president and an active member of the law? C'mon...not every law should be respected. That's how governments abuse their power.

Jenny and I were both minors at one point, both had run ins with the law, and both had to deal with " along the same lines" situations. So It's not that different at all. Ok yes by a few year, but pffffffft. She has a point with the respect situation though, you need to learn how to just ignore the fact that some cops are total pricks, and just go with the flow, ticket or no ticket. Ignorance will only dig you a deeper hole.

I swear , I can see you having this same convo with someone when you're older.

You're using a totally inappropriate example to compare. But whatever, you're right.

Posted by Vivid Boy on Jan-06-2007 18:09:

yeah trust e ive had a fair amount of runins with cops. u honestly got to kiss ass to get away.

joke with them laugh. and pretend like everything is cool. and only make a run when ur in deep shit or ur 100% ull get away

Like last night, it wasn't very realistic to keep me in detox when I could walk home. What was the purpose of that? They knew where I lived. I was intoxicated but not nearly to the point where I needed to be locked up and put in a room.

Just because someone tells you to do it (law or otherwise) doesn't make it right.

Imperical thought needs to be used at all time...if someone tells you that you're outside when you're clearly inside, doesn't mean you should believe them. This is going completely away from the topic of the thread.

A smart person would have asked them to walk you home then. Their job is to serve and protect, right (which I bet you any money would have been their reasoning for keeping you there)? Then they shouldn't have had a problem doing that instead of keeping you in the drunk tank.
