it is a serious problem though. I suffer badly with it. my mind automatically disects everything into so many little processes making what should be an easy task seem so hard.

I'm coping with the same problem ever since I quit my dayjob, simply because I have plenty of time to do so. I don't know why I tend to analyze everything around me, but from my experience being under pressure (e.g. deadlines at work) makes that tendency go away. So basically, what I'm doing now is to make sure I have lots of job interviews, just to keep me busy.

The biggest danger presents itself when you're trying to analyze something you don't understand or know very little about, e.g. the evolution of western society, certain behavioral aspects of mankind, etc., when you're starting to question everything that is considered normal and natural. That's when you get all depressed.

Occupational hazard of too much continous lateral thinking, analysis of events, numbers and potential outcomes, which seems to slop over into time when I'm really just trying to relax so it causes a lot of anxiety.
