Recent LA Times article predicted that Apple's new phone would include free calls and this would put the major carriers out of business. "$499 with 2 year Cingular contract" makes me think not...

It's pretty easy to sign up a couple months before hand. Anyhow, I am in the electronics industry, and have been going for 11 years.

There are special features, like Visual voicemail. These will make the phone only work the way it's intended with Cingular, which was just announced will be AT&T at time of iPhone launch.

AT&T is taking over the US this year, watch out!
