He finally realizes Victoria is an ugly skeleton and he leaves her ass...

and goes crazy and marries Paris Hilton and actually tames her, and they become the ULTIMATE celebrity couple EVER... and he has even more money...lol...

Maybe he should marry A-Rod. The have so much in common: they boy have $250 Million dollar contracts and both reside on the feminine side.

I'm still pumped about the move though!

Having just moved myself to LA today, I'm pretty pumped to be honest. Can't wait to kicking it with Becks at a club some night while PVD spins.

Yeah he's mainly a star because of his looks but I haven't had the chance to see anyone of notoriety live living in the U.S. Obviously his skills are on the downtrend and I agree he was mostly about passing and set pieces. Nevertheless, he was a star on my favorite team and I have fond memories of his long passes right to Ruuuuud's feet for a score! Plus, my girlfriend sure seemed excited. lol (I forgive her, having a hot girlfriend that loves futbol is nice).

I sincerely hope it helps the MLS, which I never really bother to watch now. Having a few aging stars isn't a terrible thing. I wouldn't mind seeing Ronaldo now in person as opposed to not having them at all. You can still have developing players in the remaining pieces.

His contract by the way is for 51 million for 5 years. The rest is for possible endorsement deals.

What's better? 1. Going to play for a lesser team like the rumors say in Europe with the hopes of playing more 2. Stay at Madrid for 2 more years and see his playing time continue to decrease for less money 3. Get insane amounts of money to relax in the sun in LA, be a celebrity in a new market, while making your scarecrow nagging bulimic wife happy.

Let's put it this way, I never would bother to watch or attend a MLS match before. Now, I will go see the Galaxy play in person.

Yea but American soccer clubs can't offer that to all players. There are strict wage stuctures and salary caps for each team, but each team can break this for one "star player".

The total package is inclusive of his image rights and sponsorship etc. It's probably not all that far off what he would have been earning at the beginning of his Madrid career.

Imo it shows very little footballing ambition, but fuck it, i dont think theres many who wouldnt have done the same for that money and I'm sure a massive paycheque, celebrity status and the chance to rub shoulders with beverly hill's high society means more to Beckham than any footballing trophy would.

respect to the player he was in the 90s and early 00s. and hes still above average, just way overated. if he wants to chase the $ good for him. his business, not mine

Exactly... unfortunately the Revolution don't play the Galaxy as much, because East v. West....lol... but if the schedule makers fuck up and make the Revs-Galaxy game in Foxboro BEFORE August, heads will roll!!!

Expect tickets to sell a lot faster when the schedule comes out... I ALMOST thought about buying season tickets today, seeing as they start at $200... then I realized I'd only go to the Galaxy game...lol...

you wont be able to afford to get in the kind of clubs that beckham goes to. and i never thought he was that good looking anyway ive always thought that he looks abit gay.

if beckham was was still interested in playing football he would of gone back to england or stayed in spain but clearly posh and beck have seen the pound signs posh has said i want to live there and becks has gone running there doing it for the high life.

yes. once a puto. always a puto.

that's why i don't want Cannavaro back next season.

Everyone saw this coming from a mile away cos no other clubs set offers except for LA. He's doing a Pele/Maradona job by going to the US to make more money and make people remember him more, Although Pele and Maradona's careers were light years better from Beckhams.

I think there's gonna be a difference of opinion from those posting from Europe (or other fans from futbol loving countries)...and those from the U.S. Most of my friends didn't even know what MLS was before the news broke and they were suddenly talking about the sport for the first time. Although I think the world cup had a surprising amount of interest when I was living in NY, I think there's potential for more here. As an American who likes futbol, I'm eager for anything to help grow the sport.

Pele, Beckenbauer, and Chinaglia were obviously better players than Beckham but not as good as marketing the game at that time. Pele later become an ambassador but still my 14 year nephew (who plays futbol here) has no idea who he is. No matter if you like the guy, Becks is marketing machine. People say on here.."well he's not that good looking, he looks gay" Well I personally won't disagree but that's not really the consensus from women around the world. His popularity speaks for itself. This is turn has always made him overrated as a player. We get that.

You can say that the aging stars has been tried in the past here but futbol has grown in popularity here since 1978, 1985, or whatever. Any futbol news in this country is good news. My dream is that futbol will become the 4th most popular sport here as opposed to just an afterthought.

Yank kids play a lot of footy. It's just most don't play after junior high.

Becks will motivate them to actually pursue the game a bit further.

And there are helluva a lot of Yanks.

Add a few good youth coaches and US can be as good as any footy nation in the world. (Maybe within 10 yrs)

great point...

I'm sending my kid to Becks' academy.....ahem, if I ever make enough money to afford that shit...

its just so tough with American Football, Baseball, and Basketball.... all our athletes are ate up by them, because theres no money in USA Soccer... if we had just Soccer, we'd have the best soccer team in the world... no one would be able to compete with us!

Because of this, the Real Madrid coach decided to bench Beckham for the remaining matches

That's a nice welcoming

Posted by pmoisse on Jan-14-2007 00:26:

I thought his contract was 5 years/$250 million? Regardless, $125 mil over 5 years is still rediculous.

I don't know what kind of attendance or TV audience they get, but I'm still surprised that a team could afford that kind of deal.

Will he give a full effort or will he just prance around and play half-assed, take a couple nice free kicks, and roll around in his money?

He said in an interview that hes still very eager and wants to go out there to help developping the team and all that crap. Maybe its true, but its probably just the right thing to say.
