this is DEFINITELY not gonna work..no one gives a shit about soccer in American..and sum pretty english boy isnt gonna change the outlook on soccer.
i just read that actually 80% of his $250 million is to be from endorsements, etc.
less than $10 million a year is to be from actual playing salary.
May this will start some sort of buzz in the USD and gain alot more fans and people getting invloved.
Soccer in the states is like curling to Canada.

| Just to wear a jersey, again, how can Becks sleep at night |

Becks has not been the same player since 99-00. It will make for good publicity for the MLS though, and might lead to others following him. Edgar Davids is apparently conisdering a move as well.

Is he still married to Posh Spice?
I woulda gone with Ginger Spice, or whatever the red headed one was, if I was going for a trophy spice-wife.

i think the whole move is a 250 million dollar joke... i still think no one in america is going to care about the MLS... sports fans here like baseball and NFL football and like most americans, aren't willing to change even if it does mean quality players... and if they are trying to get more people to watch, hopefully they'll start actually broadcasting the games in HD... last year i remember flippin channels and leavin on an MLS game for a minute or two and viewing experience sucked because it wasn't in HD... not even the "MLS all star game" where the MLS all star's played Chelsea was in HD... what a joke
at the end of the day, all this move is doing is taking away quality players from countries where football actually matters...... i dont like it

comcast doesn't provide HDNET unfortunately
he is coming to reep the benifits of the LA market and the endorsements.
Also because of adidas, and to start a movie career...he has been talking about this for a while, i though hed wait another couple of years.
however, i think he is wasting his time if he plans on reinventing the MLS.
futbol in the states is hopeless...because we did not invent it, we will not embrace it.
Ill stick to the premier league on FSN
i really do wish he'd leave the orange, lopsided cantaloupe toting alien abroad. that being said yes, $3.17/second is totally sick but what about consumerist culture says to expect any less (literally)? but i still have my man united scarf with his face knitted onto it that my friend brought back for me from england 10 years ago and he adorned my cubicle for years (this from a girl that prefers girls!) and i WILL be buying a ticket just to gaze upon his adonis-like form in person. hooray for MLS!
added bonus: i might have more friends to watch the world cup with next time around... the last 2 times were lonely!
