Yeah the cop was out of line. The police here in the States have grown more cocky with all of the new laws that were passed during the Patriot Act. too many new BS items to list. Austin Cops are the worse, and maybe 75% are covered in pimples and are suffering roid rage. Its stupid when I person can be handcuffed, hog tied, tasered and have thier head shoved in a pile of fire ants. Or a person is shot in the back. Of course if the person is a Latino, I guess its all good.

Cops are bad here, but I make sure I splash my Treasury Officer Badge when they pull me over. Not that I do that all the time, but they see it and about 75% of them freak and let me go. I also carry so I have to show them my concealed permit as well. The last thing I want is to reach over to grab my insurance card and they spot my Pee Shooter, I let the officer know right off the bat that I carry by gving them my permit at the same time as my license.

oh and why do I carry, cause I am from Texas!! ha ha

2 days to make them and put them in after braiding up my real hair.
2 days to take them all out
1 day looking like I fell out of a washing machine
$80 haircut to look like a dork.

Alright, I'm off to bed. Got to wake up in a few hours and drive 160 miles.

Posted by Lilith on Jan-12-2007 12:04:

Was going to put up before/kinda what it looks like now, but then decided it would be a BAD idea.
Well least in the car you've got a better chance of outrunning the rednecks and no chance of being beaten for jaywalking.

Posted by shaolin_Z on Jan-12-2007 12:06:

When you feel better that is.

Posted by shaolin_Z on Jan-12-2007 12:07:

Alright, I really gotta hit the sack now, it's past 6 am

The fact that he's a Historian/White/Hispanic/Spanish is really irrelevant.
That's still f'd up...

Prof Fernandez-Armesto, that spanish or portugese?

There's a linguistic clash in his name: "-ez" is a Spanish ending, but a pure Spanish name would've dropped the initial "F" (whereas Portuguese would've kept it).

My instinct says it's Spanish, as it doesn't look like modern Portuguese at all, and surnames tend to be more conservative.

The Fernandez is definitely spanish, it's quite common in some countries. The tricky part is the Armesto. I have never encountered a last name like this one. It's the 'Arm' combination at the beginning is not used frequently for last names in spanish.
