I agree with Mitsu, would be interesting to see what the other TAs can come up with. I'll be posting my circus demo on this thread once its done.

Ok so people I wanna see enter this contest (some are familiar to TA, others are not):

-Alex (formerly known as Lopitrance)
-Hakim aka ariaclubber
-Moevalith
-Viktor aka Wisnia
-Nick84
-Paul (friend of Hakim's, fucking talented and highly underestimated and overlooked; this dude's transition capacities are off the hook, guys, like a 2nd Diggers, almost...You cannot hear the mix, he's that good, Alex back me up here plz)
-Julius aka Piett (not sure his music would fit Circus but anyhow...)
-ME! ...I wish

Now...

People I don't wanna see enter this contest:

-Marcus007

...

That's it!

I'm so just kidding Max, you know I love you!!!

I am soooooooooo curious as to what the criteria will be for getting a spot in the actual line-up (seeing how a mix of only 30 mins can be entered) andddddd also as to what the criteria will be when the top contestants are given their time to shine inside the club. Can I have a date as to when this night will be? I must make sure I have the next day off.

I think the best question is WHO is actually judging these contestants and their mixes...

Personally i think a 30 minute set is not long enough. I attempted to record something last night and it ended up being 55 minutes.
Its hard to give the listener an idea of what you are trying to do in that time .

I guess as a dj you train yourself to play as long as you can, and be as flexible with your music as possible so when it's time to record something super short it's a bit challenging.

The artist with the best technical skill will definitly win this competition.

Good luck guys, i got some crazy new material!

+1

I tried to keep it at 30 minutes too, but it's quite a challenge

Personally, and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the point of the 30 minute mix to let people hear what u'd typically play at the peak of your set? Like, just the most filthy, banging, deepest and darkest shit you have under your belt? I think that would be the smartest strategy...Play the tracks that you feel will get the crowd into the palm of your hand.

And that's what I'd do if I could enter...How else are you gonna catch the people's attention? Certainly not by carefully selecting an attention-grabbing intro followed by a build-up to your craziest material followed by a calmer outro...Right?

PS Can't wait to hear what you got Viktor seeing how we've always been eye-to-eye with musical tastes

Yes, its partially true, even though its a bit challenging to start a set with a banger track. Of couse the bar is raised in this case, u definitly cant start with fluffy stuff, but its important to still keep some kind of structure.

30 minute sampler mix here

I sent them an email just for shits and giggles

since I already had a 30 minute mix hanging around my computer // demos and samplers are only suppose to be 20 - 30 minutes anyways

pack it in with a punch get straight down with bizness

this mix can be best described as dirthy, filthy, grimey, immoral the kind of house music where you just grab the hair and slap that ass then head to the bathroom stall and do what you gotta do cause your classy like that LOL

just being silly thats all :P

discuss...

Posted by Luke Native on Jan-17-2007 02:35:

hey Viktor

you dont necessarily have to mix for exactly 30 minutes

feel free to mix 2 hours or more (or whatever it takes for that matter) and just edit the hottest 30 minutes out of the mix that you like

Cheers,
Luke

erika

not nice

i know you loved chilling with me at 1234 when they played The World is Mine over and over and over again...

i love mc mario he's the best dj in montreal... creator who?

*marcus' brain explodes due to a sarcasm overload*

Posted by Tag on Jan-17-2007 03:47:

Allied nations WILL win.
The rest of you are noobs, or simply play gay/emo minimal garb.
OR you would just look stupid behind the decks.
I have to disagree with erika. Paul should not enter, the guy is too much of a snob and there's enough french ppl in montreal as it is.
Hakim would be sick to, even if he cant dj. All he has to do is have a mick set up so he can mumble obserdities at the crowd.
So like I said allied nations will win.

Ho and btw, thanx for that racist remark over french people. You're the kind of person who gives the quebec a bad reputation in Europe.

and one last thing ... have u heard hakim recently ?
