no they just changed it...
the one on page 2 was the original official flyer & was also posted on www.sonicmen.com but i guess people complained about how graphic it was. his hands in the wrong spot maybe lol

Posted by English Rachel on Jan-30-2007 13:57:

I never really make any comments but that first official flyer was pathetic.

Exactly the stereotype that my friends can't bear. So fucking 1985.

Posted by coconuticecream on Jan-30-2007 15:29:

not 1985, now. still.

show that flyer, or hand it out to some random gay guy walkin down church on a saturday night near the bars and he wont think twice. thats the norm. dirty, sexual, eye catching. "looks hot" lets go.

draws people out. remember they are catering to a gay crowd on fridays now.

but... do i like it? nope. its gross. even the current official is not necc.

you dont see flyers for other nights with half naked girls touching themselves

AMEN TO THAT!

Seriously, I don't know what sonic management is thinking.. Can someone tell Gairy Brown and Carey to get with the program?

Exactly what kind of disgusting behaviour are you talking about?
I think you should elaborate on that.

And BTW, if you witness any kind of inappropiate behaviour, I think common sense dictates that you should call SECURITY and complain.
We live in a DEMOCRACY and one of the duties and privileges that come with it is the RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT.
If people remain silent, the offenders will assume that everybody else is OK with their actions.
But we have to SAY SOMETHING.
Sonic has nice staff and if you complain, I'm sure they will be happy to act and try to correct the situation.
If we want a nice crowd, then let's make sure that EVERYBODY PLAYS NICE TO EACH OTHER.

Dude Friday night is gay night. Plus if it bothers you THAT much, I suggest you stay home.

I'm really not getting what you're trying to imply here....
Just because is gay night does it mean that questionable behaviour should be tolerated? I THINK NOT SO.
Just because some SLEAZOID CHARACTER is crossing the line, does it mean that I have to turn around and pretend it's not happening. YOU ARE WRONG.
I have nothing against DECENT public displays of affection between people be it gay or straight, but if somebody is crossing the line (and I think common sense among mature people will tell you where to draw the line) then I think they should be reminded that not everybody wants to be a witness of their show.
So be it friday or saturday, gay or straight, people whose behaviour is questionable (eg. smoking inside the club, harrasing other patrons or indecent caressing/exposure) should be reminded to behave properly.
It obviously bothers a lot of people so why remain silent.
Maybe it doesnt bother you, so that makes me think maybe you are one of the perpetrators?

No I am not. This is what the gay community is like, they are just having fun and I respect that. You can't just come into a night for them and try and make them change their ways because YOU are bothered. That's just plain ridiculous. What you think is indecent isn't to another, not everyone thinks the way you do. Pick and choose your battles, because this is one you will not win. The bouncers will just laugh at you. As I said, if it bothers you THAT much, stay home and go on Saturday when there won't be any of it.

funny how when a guy and girl are getting too friendly with each other in public it's usually "inappropriate" but when it's two guys it's disgusting...

there was allot of bitching and whining about certain peoples behavior at sonic on straight nights...now the straight people are bitching and whining about peoples behavior on gay nights?

it's no wonder the montrealers read our threads and just laugh their asses off

i'd laugh too, but since i live here i'm more embarrassed than amused

Listen, there's "inappropriate" or "disgusting" behavior going on at gay clubs all the time in Toronto. Always has, and probably always will. And whether some people like it or not, Sonic is a gay club on Friday nights. As a gay man, I can't stand some of the stuff I see at gay clubs, it makes me uncomfortable and irritated, especially when I'm trying to dance and I get bumped intentionally so that some gay guy hopes I'll look up and notice him (I do notice you, I noticed you the first 4 times you hit me, and if you do it again, I'm gonna throw an elbow in your unattractive face.) But sadly, I accept that I'm in the minority of gay people. And I accept that a lot of those people are good friends of mine, and if I spent the night talking to them about their behavior, I'd be miserable. I accept all of it and ignore it. I've seen Rauhofer live before, and although I was surrounded by the same sweaty shirtless men, at a club with a flyer with the same sweaty dude touching himself (are you kidding me with that? At least a picture with Rauhofer touching himself woulda been more relevant) I still had one of the best nights ever. Rauhofer will be amazing. I know it will be hard, but my advice to uncomfortable straight people who are on the fence about this event would be the same advice I'd give to any uncomfortable gay people (like me). Find a spot, corner, nook on the dance floor (not in the middle, I hate the middle), surround yourself with as many good friends or people that you can get, and just keep looking at each other and tune all the other "inappropriate" or "disgusting" crap out. Just your friends, and the music. It is MUCH easier said than done, it's not the ideal atmosphere to experience Rauhofer in, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. For me, Rauhofer is worth it. And if you see an irritated little gay guy wandering around looking for a small piece of the floor to dance on and some cool people to dance with, please don't shoot me a look or push me or think Im hitting on you (I'm seriously not trying to hit on you! I just look around a lot and smile too much when I'm.....partying.)
I cant wait for Rauhofer. I hope everyone can relax about the stupid stuff, and just be as excited for this night as I am.

P.S- The security staff on Friday's are mostly gay (at least the ones I'm aware of) So complaining to them about whatever behavior you dont like isnt gonna get you far.
